After my slight mishap on landing awile back I am off and flying again with a new prop and nose gear tube. I will do my best to do better landings now so I can finally fly off my 40 hrs of FAA time. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Subject: Re: Back in the air again From: DClarke351@aol.com Date: Fri, 4 Dec 1998 09:45:52 EST X-Message-Number: 4 I was not trying to unsubscribe, only trying to let the net know whats going on in this corner of the world. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Subject: aluminum kits? From: "Mark Langford" Date: Fri, 4 Dec 1998 13:35:59 -0000 X-Message-Number: 5 NetHeads, I tried to order my 1.25" x 3" x 1/8" wall rectangular section aluminum tubing for my Frise aileron hinges today. It turns out the TubeSales has a $200 minimum order. Since I can't find this stuff anywhere else (in 6061-T6) I'm desperate enough to order it anyway. It occured to me that if anybody else needs their "aluminum kit", I could order it at the same time, meet the $200 minimum (if I get two or more kits), and probably save the kit buyers some money in the process. Anybody interested? And does anybody have the RR aluminum kit that could tell me what's in it? I could make a good stab at it (since I bought one 5 years ago) but I'd like to know exactly, so I could check and see what the actual savings would be to any would-be participants. Seems like I remember thinking there wasn't much in it for the $125 that I paid for it. Just two 3' 2" x 4" x .125" angles for firewall reinforcement, two feet of 1" x 1" x .125" channel and two feet of 1.25" x 1.25" x .125" channel for control surface hinges, and something else, I'm sure. Anybody know what I'm missing here? Thanks, Mark Langford, Huntsville, Alabama mailto:langford@hiwaay.net see KR2S project N56ML at http://home.hiwaay.net/~langford ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Subject: Re: aluminum kits? From: Ross Youngblood Date: Fri, 04 Dec 1998 11:38:25 -0800 X-Message-Number: 6 Mark, The aluminum kit also included parts for the Retractable Landing Gear. Possibly the spring bar (rather expensive single piece $40-80.00), and I believe some aluminum BOX stock 1"x2"x.125" about 2'. This was used to build the "mousetrap" retract stuff. Some of the AL box stuff is used to make the aileron bellcranks, and aileron bellcrank brackets too. The Wicks catalog has a good breakdown of the AL kit by size. I have found a local supplier for AL stock. The hardware store here in Corvallis gets 6061 stock from a Aluminum manufacturor here in Oregon. The prices are $$$ but I can run in and buy some .125 angle whenever I need it. It's handy now that I'm almost done. Not everything they have is 6061, but after searching a while I can usually find what I need. -- Regards Ross Mark Langford wrote: > > NetHeads, > > I tried to order my 1.25" x 3" x 1/8" wall rectangular section aluminum > tubing for my Frise aileron hinges today. BTW, did you see Barnaby Wainfan's article on adverse yaw in the January Kitplanes? He mentions Frise ailerons and some possible pitfalls. I'm a slow learner. So, step 1 is to try to post to the new list. If this works I will change my subscription. My real query is prompted by a recent ride in a commercial jet and a more recent looking through my plans set for the Cozy. Do any of you know of a reasonably good reference for self education on the Whitcomb winglet? There must be something out there in the public domain, but I haven't found it yet. Maybe John Roncz (sp ?) has put something out besides what appeared in Sport Aviation some years ago. Thanks in advance Rex Ellington Rex T. This is going to be PHASE II of the move to the new kr-net email list. The only thing you should notice is that your email from KRNET stops having "KR:" in the subject, and will have [krnet-l] in the subject. And the from address will be different. Eventually everyone will have to start posting emails to kr-net@teleport.com Within a day or so, I will turn-off the majordomo list so if you suddenly stop getting emails from KRnet, this could be the reason. With the NEW kr-net service you can now CONTROL how much email you get every day. If you don't want ANY mail, go to the web server and tell it that is what you want.. you can still post to KRNET as a member. I have selected the "index" function for myself, kr-net will email me a list of the daily topics on KRNET, then I can go to the kr-net website and read only the ones I am interested in. If you don't have web access to the internet, then there is an email method to do everything you can do on the web, I just don't have the commands memorized yet. http://lyris1.telelists.com/htbin/lyris.pl?enter=kr-net -- Regards Ross -- Ross Youngblood Pager: (800)SKY-PAGE PIN#895-9073 Staff Technical Specialist voicemail: (800)538-6838 x 1632 Schlumberger SABER Bus Line: (541)714-1754 Corvallis,Oregon mailto:rossy@saber.slb.com ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Subject: Re: Rex's test From: Ross Youngblood Date: Fri, 04 Dec 1998 12:30:30 -0800 X-Message-Number: 12 Rex Ellington wrote: > > HI. > > I'm a slow learner. Otherwise, you don't have to do anything, I've taken care of it. My major concern is that I don't want to loose anyone in the transfer. If you want to investigate using the web access for kr-net you can. There is a password field, but unless you give yourself a password, you don't need one. I didn't assign users passwords. One of the things folks may wish to do who are getting too much KRNET email, would be to change your subscription to the INDEX mode, where you only get a list of topics every day. You have to go to the edit page in the web to do this. There is a way to do this by sending email to the server but I don't know the commands at the moment. -- Regards Ross ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Subject: Re: Don Clarke KR2 N9296M From: John Esch Date: Fri, 04 Dec 1998 12:37:37 -0800 X-Message-Number: 13 How old and how much for the soob?
