I've seen a number of dropped valves and cracked heads, that was very likely caused by overheating. That's what happens when you break the fan belt and keep on driving. All of my experience was with the early engines. I've been told that the later ones had better heads. I've seen engines running a little rough and trailing a blue cloud of oil smoke, that when torn down had 2 dropped exhaust valves. The whole piston top was missing, but the car was still running...... (-; WD >What a testimonial (from http://www.omnispace.com/Corvair/ ). This was supposed to be done sometime ago, but in the interim I started building an airplane ;o) Anyway, I still have all the stuff and have converted some files to PDFs already, so you can find things easily using the Adobe Acrobat engine and also so that the CDs are platform-independent (Acrobat is available for free in most flavors of OS, and will be included on the CD). But if I were to mention that I was going to charge $10 for the CDs I might be accused of trying to make a fast buck, so I'd better not mention that, nor the plan to turn the proceeds over to the KRNet admin costs or to the NLF fund ;o) Now if Kerry will keep prodding me to get the darn things done, they might be ready soon! And, I went through the backlog of Approval requests I had stacked up. Some of them may have been processed by the other admins, but I can't be sure. So Welcome! If you are a new member to KR-net. I'm setting up a couple of more Admins so in the future if you need to change your email address, the approval will not take several weeks. Remember... You can ALWAYS unsubscribe, or CHANGE how many messages from KRNET/day you recieve. To unsubscribe you just follow the directions at the END of any KR-NET email. (It tells you where to send email to unsubscribe). To change the quantity you will need to go to the KRNET website http://www.krnet.org, and click on the KRNET icon. This will take you to the KR-NET website interface. Unless you are an ADMIN, or have given yourself a password, no password is needed to enter. Once you have logged in, click on "YOUR SETTINGS" Change your STATUS to one of: mail: -- All messages (multiple emails/day) digest: -- One LARGE email of ALL messages/day index: -- One SMALL email/day with topics/first lines of messages only nomail: -- NO mail, still a member of the list, but on vacation. In the case of the index, each index message tells you how to have Lyris email you the entire message group for the day at the end. Also, you can ALWAYS browse the KRNET messages via the website. nomail would be a good setting to use if you don't want to get email messages, but might want to post questions from time to time. Don't abuse this, or we might decide to remove you. (For example, posting an email that gets everyone riled up, and fills everyones email box but your own, would be one situation). Useful stuff to know http://www.krnet.org -- Krnet website mailto:krnet@krnet.org -- Admin email (checked weekly?)(Won't delete KRNET stuff) mailto:rossy@teleport.com -- Admin regular email. (May Delete KRNET stuff) Learn to find your Email DELETE key. I need to follow up with the new admins to make sure they are able to do approvals OK, after this I will post their email addresses so you can email them if I'm not available.
