Can someone please confirm that the width of the rudder spar on a KR2 at the top is 3/8" as shown on page 14 of plans dated Jan 1990? My problem is that if this is the case the upper hinge is so small in width, being only 8 inches down from the top, that it cannot accomadate the 10/32 bolt heads to attach it. Should the spar be 5/8" at the top and/or the hinge attach bolts a smaller diameter. Also, with respect to the elevator hinges, drawing 48 shows the bolts one above the other but photo No.12 shows them side by side. I would have thought that the former would be preferred in torsion. Any assistance greatly appreciated. John Martindale. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Subject: FAQ articles From: Kimball Anderson Date: Sat, 22 May 1999 09:38:12 -0400 X-Message-Number: 4 Hey, guys. There are several new articles under the Spars and Wings section of the FAQ. Some of them aren't quite finished yet, but I need a little feedback. They're written with a relatively new type of HTML code, so I need a few people with older browsers (if there are any such people) to take a look at them and see if they read okay. A giveaway that your browser isn't handling them correctly will be if the title at the very top of the page ISN'T centered. Anybody with any problems, email me direct. While I'm on the subject, these are great articles! Also, Dr. Dean has updated his health-risk article, so be sure to check that one out again. It's under the Composites section. More to come . . . They may have some incorrectly dimesioned (all the same but not made to the requested size) or not purchased trusses. I did this and got some 38'-7" trusses for $500.00 plus tax & shipping. I used 6 x 6 posts on the sides & back with a 6 x 12 beam atop the posts @ 12' o/c, approximately. I doubled up the tursses at the end where I wanted the door(s). I only made it 8' high as I'm taller that the plan and I can go in & out with out ducking. Run a pressured treated doug fir sill around on the concrete. Place a 2 x 6 @ 48" up from floor level. That with the top of beam @ 8'. you can use the cheapest 4 x 8 siding you can find in your area. If you need the plans. I have them on AutoCAD. If you or a friend have AutoCAD, I can send you the plans for the barn. Just let me know the version of AutoCAD and 'e' address and their on they the way. Happy building and/or flying. Wierd stuff, but works good! When you open the can of blue stuff, it looks dried out, but once mixed with the white stuff it turns nice and smooth, and spreads nicely. I'll sand it tomorrow and see how it sands. I noticed (too late) in the promo literature that you can squeegee on some peelply right to the SuperFil, and rip it off when dry, just like a regular layup. I'll have to try that trick on another area I fill with the stuff. I will guarantee you two things: (1)It's way lighter than micro, and (2)It's way easier than micro to work with.
