I'll sand it tomorrow and see how it sands. I noticed (too late) in the promo literature that you can squeegee on some peelply right to the SuperFil, and rip it off when dry, just like a regular layup. I will guarantee you two things: (1)It's way lighter than micro, and (2)It's way easier than micro to work with. Oscar Zuniga >> You'll notice that it is way easier to sand also. I've contacted the owner of the company. He has once again donated material for a forum at the gathering. The combination of SuperFil and Smooth Prime sure has made the filling and sanding part of the construction process smooth (bad pun). Try this stuff guys, it's the ticket. I've had better luck by laying down a litle resin first and then adding the superfil. Sure does sand great. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Subject: Re: SuperFil From: Mike Mims Date: Sun, 23 May 1999 08:30:01 -0700 X-Message-Number: 4 RFG842@aol.com wrote: > > Have had a little problem with the stuff sticking, especially on a real thin application.>>> I have heard other say this. Do you remember what the temp and relative humidity was when you were trying to use it? At my airport it tends to be very dry and the temps usually are above 80 degrees. In these conditions I can apply the stuff as thin as I want, right down to a feathered edge. I will have to try the peel ply trick next time! -- zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz Micheal Mims Ailerons almost done! http://www.geocities.com/CapeCanaveral/Hangar/4136/ Aliso Viejo CA Give Blood, Play Hockey! ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Subject: Re: Rudder spar and upper hinge etc. From: HAshraf@aol.com Date: Sun, 23 May 1999 13:34:08 EDT X-Message-Number: 5 In a message dated 99-05-22 09:34:23 EDT, you write: << Hi. My planes rudder post is 48" long I I plan to enlarge the rudder a bit. For example the Dragonfly uses the same system (3 gallon header tank that supplies fuel to engine but is filled by another tank) and if you don't have a gauge for each tank the local FSDO will shoot you down. -- zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz Micheal Mims Ailerons almost done! http://www.geocities.com/CapeCanaveral/Hangar/4136/ Aliso Viejo CA Give Blood, Play Hockey! ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Subject: Page for completed KRs on KRnet From: Mike Mims Date: Sun, 23 May 1999 20:34:40 -0700 X-Message-Number: 8 I started a page that has photos of completed KRs that belong to members of the KRNet.
