Don't know whether to run into 1 stack exiting on the passenger side or 2 stacks, one on each side. Pilot's side stack would run close to the gasalotor. One stack would give me room for the heat muff on the cross over. Can anyone with a Type 4 installation give me some hints? I've used various unleaded premiums in my Subaru. I usually use Amoco, but I use other premiums during high price times. I never seem to see any difference. I will test for alcohol. Now for a new request. I would like to know what tire size that you have and what air pressure are you using? In the mains, nose or tail wheels? I would like to hear from all flying KRs? I need the location to mount the revemaster mount. also I would appreciate any other imformation about mounting this engine. ie the spacers to mount the engine to the mount. The Dehiel nose gear mount was on the fire wall when I purchased the project, but a different mount had been on it for a smaller VW engine. Any imformation would greatly be appreciated. My horizontal stabilizer and elevator are ready to be mounted to the fuselage, so I weighed them tonight. The elevator was weighed on my postal scale accurate to 1/10 once, the stab on an electronic bathroom scale accurate to 1/2 pound. The postal scale only weighs to 5 pounds. Horiz Stab - 5.5 pounds Elevator - 4.5 pounds Another data point for the collection. From: Laheze@aol.com Date: Mon, 30 Aug 1999 00:43:15 EDT X-Message-Number: 10 I recently changed my KR2 ( which had a revmaster engine on an original Rand motor mount) from a tail dragger to a Diehl nose dragger plus added the 2" spacers By adding the 2" spacers the starter hit the bottom cross brace and forced the removal of the cross brace and adding a new curved one, it was an unexpected surprise to have to do all that work for the 2" spacers ( to move the engine forward) Larry Howell ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Subject: Re: Exaust stacks, Type 4 From: Laheze@aol.com Date: Mon, 30 Aug 1999 00:50:29 EDT X-Message-Number: 11 The KR2 that I have been repairing went down on takeoff because of vaporlock. Joe at RevMaster told me that it was important on KR2's to insulate the gascolator and that Ken Rand had vaporlock on the original and had discovered that he needed to insulate it, so this one will definitely be insulated. It was almost as boring as making all those pesky gussets! Remember those little %&#$@? :o) Anyway its looking like I can start on the legs next weekend (its a long one). I will also make the balance weights. From: HAshraf@aol.com Date: Mon, 30 Aug 1999 01:56:55 EDT X-Message-Number: 14 Well folks here is the news from Chino Aircraft Works. (CAW) I was the only one working today. Last week Mike had helped me taper the outer spars so I was able to complete both frames. All weekend it hovered at about 95-98 degrees. At this temp. T-88 cures rock hard in about four hours. I was also able attach the seat back shear brace and the stabilizer brace. Now the stab is ready to be mounted. I got RR fuel tank two weeks ago but It looked too flimsy. I am sure once assembled it would have been OK. But, I decided to 'beef it up' with two layers of 5.0 oz kevlar. It may be just some false feeling of security but it gave me a chance of working with Kevlar. It came out pretty good. Now I got a golden tank. I plan to have the tank and the front deck removable. Next I will be making some brackets for that. I have bought all the hardware for fuel fittings (mainly Al flanges) plan to install them next few weeks. best of all NO MORE GUSSETTS.
