Thanks for sharing it with us. I have decided not to sell the KR-1 thanks to some of the other members in the West valley (you know who you are) and i will definately be giving you a call this week so we can get together and see if we can get another bird in the air I keep coming to points where I have to chose between flight school and putting the money into building and i get frustrated and wanna sell it. When i hear the stories and see progress i wanna keep it and get it flying. Thanks everyone. Changed to Lamb tires from ASS and 45 lb. pressure. No problems after that also, handled a lot better in taxi. -- Adrian VE6AFY Mailto:cartera@cuug.ab.ca http://www.cuug.ab.ca/~cartera ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Subject: Re: Suburu Engines From: KRBLUCH@aol.com Date: Wed, 8 Sep 1999 12:22:47 EDT X-Message-Number: 5 Larry, I can only surmise that your questions about Subarus and speed relates to weight. The prototype weighed in at about 580 lbs. It's obvious that a 700 lb. plane will suffer in the performance department. I would like to see a compilatoin of data on KRs of performance, weight and horse power. Question: Anybody have any pertinent info about the Campbell MOA at lake Barkley. Dave Blucher >> There is a restricted area just south of the Lake Barkley airport. EagleGator has drawn up a pilot briefing covering just that area. When I get there on Weds., I will be contacting the appropriate persons to find out any times of operations, if any for the weekend. As I recall there is a small prohibited area. The area west and north of the airport will make for great flying over the lake area. Another question, what awards do we want to have (i.e., what awards were given out last year). Got to get that to the trophy guy this week. Remember, BRING SHADE AWNINGS. Nobody took me up on it. And our two promised photo platform planes didn't show. Maybe we just got busy and never had time to do it. Maybe nobody cares. I'd sure like to get a few aerial shots of KRs to spruce up some of our web pages, desktops, etc, especially over the lake. The beauty of doing it this year is it would be digital (even FREEER) and easily dissiminated to all via the web. We could have one plane flying along with a parade of KRs, each to have his picture made, and could do it all in just a few minutes. Something to think about. Maybe we'll have a Bonanza for a photo plane this year... I have done all of the normal manouvers except for spins. As short as the fuselage is, I'm a little spooked about it going into a flat spin. I have spun most of the planes I've flown over the years, that's so I had a better feel for the limits. Any comments or ideas would be helpful. Since some of you have a bit of time in these birds. My last job for 2.5 years was at the AUTEC Base in the Bahamas. My job was to hang out of helocopters at 130 knots taking pictures of torpedo tests for the Navy. I now work for Raytheon's Publications Department. I have taken air to air, air to ground, underwater, Awards ceremonies, weddings, school yearbooks, etc, etc. I will be attending the gathering with my equipment both film based and Digital. I would be happy to take photos for the group. I can also bring portable studio strobes if anyone wants a setup shot. Dave Mullins Nashua, NH KR2S or Bust!! From: Mark Jones Date: Wed, 08 Sep 1999 23:14:20 -0500 X-Message-Number: 14 Hey Guys, All of these reports of progress, new flights, the gathering coming in a couple of weeks, and pure motivation have all got my blood pumping!!! Over the Labor Day weekend I stayed home and worked on N886MJ. I completed most of the forward deck. This took the most part of two full days, but I have a deck which I will proudly place on my 2S. All I have to do to the deck now is install the piano hinges to make it a removable deck. Also, since I made the deck extend over the instrument panel, I will have to install finishing trim to the cockpit edge of the deck. This is kind of like an auto dash. On my instrument panel, I installed the fuse panel. Also, I have installed the brake lines to my hydraulic calipers and toe brakes. Did a little additional work to the fuel tank also. Tonight, I sat in her again, closed my eyes and dreamed of flying. Also took more photos which I hope to have on my web site soon. I feel this was a productive weekend and yes I did spend time with the wife and kids. My two year old was eagerly helping me most of the time.
