Put them on your Christmas list !! They are: From the EAA " How to " series,- ' Eaa Aircraft Building Techniques-Wood ', ( This book is a collection of articles, pictures, and drawings that cover almost any question you might have on wood and wood construction. i.e., selection of wood, types of joints, glues, testing, etc. ) The four books by Tony Bingelis " Sportplane Construction Techniques" " The Sportplane Builder" " Firewall Forward" " Tony Bingelis on Engines " Tony's books are the easiest to read technical books I've ever seen. They are full of pictures and very simple drawings that will help you understand any phase of aircraft construction. He separates the different systems of the aircraft into chapters and covers everything from selecting the type of aircraft to build to bolting on propellers and EVERYTHING in between !! They should be required reading for any builder. Check with the EAA and see if you can get a discount through your local chapter when ordering. Give Santa your list now and make sure he knows how to order them or order them for him and let him deliver them !!!!!!!!!!!!! It is adjustable so that different firewall to engine distances can be set. On the close side, the oil filter could be set to a fraction of an inch of the firewall for short light trigger planes with light pilots. Question is how far forward does it need to go for planes on the other end of the scale. I would like to see a few weight and balance forms from completed KR, s. Typically I need to know empty weight and its CG, datum point, length of fuse, type of gear, type of motor, elec. start or not, and where the battery is and how big it is. Any commentary of personal experience of flight near the fwd. or aft CG limits would also be useful. I have reviewed many good web pages of builders. Seems that there are a lot of innovators out there. I am impressed. As far as gear if you are talking about the retracts, no they are not used any longer. If your talking about fixed gear the only pre-man gear available for the KR series is Dan Diehl's and almost everyone uses it. -- zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz Micheal Mims Building New Gear Legs http://www.fortunecity.com/marina/anchor/270/ http://www.evansville.net/~boeing/project_viking/ http://members.home.com/mikemims/ Aliso Viejo CA ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Subject: Re: Parts selection From: "Capps Family" Date: Sun, 3 Oct 1999 22:34:35 -0500 X-Message-Number: 13 To All; What is the widest the fuselage can be, and still allow the use of the D'Fly Canopy? I ask this question not only for aesthetic reasons, but also for builders decisions based on widening the fuselage. There must be a width limit placed on the using the D'Fly canopy.
