Manual says 10 degrees down and 20 degrees up. Can anyone explain how this is achieved when the aileron system is a closed one, ie., connected right round by follow through cables. With mine, the down stop on one aileron at 10 degrees limits the up travel on the other to the same amount, ie., 10 degrees and vica versa because of the closed cables. How can one aileron move through half an inch, ie, 10 degrees and the other through 1 inch ie. 20 degrees without the cables stretching....or is there a differential in the bell cranks that I don't appreciate. How can the use of pushrods affect this and does it matter?? If you imgine your aileron crank to be a circle with the pivot bolt to be the centre, the aileron operating rod is connected at a point 45deg on the circumference. For a given radial movement, the tangental movement of the operating rod will be greater one way than t'other-,easier to sketch it , but hope this helps. Cheers Pommie Mac! Of course the original plans called for the use of a couple of aluminum channels bolted to the firewall, but I believe you would be happier having a qualified welder make a traditional "built up" aircraft engine mount for you. A traditional mount will allow you more room for accessories (mag, starter, whatever) between the firewall and engine and should help you improve the location of the CG. If you are interested I can take a few pictures of mine, since I have the engine removed at the moment. E-mail me privately. For those of you who do have the simulator loaded and have got a few hours in a KR2 I would appreciate an opinion on the realism of the simulator, or on adjustment to the different scalars to get it as close to the real thing as possible. What do i use for a motor mount or > do i just make one? Making your own engine mount is the way to go. I suppose RR might still sell them too, but I wouldn't swear to that. By building your own you can get the CG exactly where it needs to be. If you buy one already made, you'll almost certainly have to add spacers, or compromise in some way to get your CG range in the right place. Just use the 5/8" 4130 tubing that's called out in the plans, and get somebody that knows how to weld aircraft tubing to do the job. By weighing the plane and doing the weight and balance without the engine, and determining the weight and CG of the engine itself (by balancing it on something), you can determine exactly where it needs to be with relation to the firewall, without having to move your battery to the tail or something similar. Then make up a jig from scrap steel or aluminum (it's even been done with wood) and a VW case or bellhousing (if you've got one laying around) to locate the engine end, and take it to be welded. Try to connect the mounting points as close to the longerons as possible to reduce the bending on the top 5/8" x 3" spruce member. I paid $2795.00. It is a BRS-5 with a mounting package for a KR-2. The chute mounts behind the pilots seat pointed up. You build a approx. 12" dia. hole in the fuselage covered with a layer of 1.7oz Ceconite fabric. 3 kevlar straps (kinda like seat belt webbing) run from the chute through the hole. One strap runs along the fuselage and connects in the tail area, the other 2 straps connect around the front wing spar on both sides of the fuselage. You actually imbed the straps into the fuselage skins, glass and paint right over the top. If you fire the chute it punches through the ceconite fabric driven by its solid fuel rocket, the straps will peel themselves out of the skin and you float down nose high hanging under the 3 point harness. I cannot find the weight??? I think it weighs about 16#. I would except a reasonable offer. My first flight was a circuit with 90 mph over the fence and power off but still was up to 1000 rpm and no flaps, could not get them to work just right. At about 40 the rpm dropped to 600 rpm. When the wheels touched I just held it there until the speed bled off, at about 40 I started to punch the period key. It stayed straight by this time one could not see over the nose. At least on mine I could see out each side of the cowling and that's all one really needs. To me, very little similarity. Now one to get my 737 checkout. I have tried to find it several times at the address posted and have been unable to find anything about the Kr.
