The total warp is in the neighborhood of a 16th inch bow in the middle of the spar (after epoxying) and is in the fore aft axis. I have not planed the spar down yet to its correct dimensions in this axis. The amount I should be taking off is 1/8th or slightly more. Any thoughts on what I should do and how I should do it would be greatly appreciated. If you laid them on stringers on the floor they may have absorbed moisture which may have caused the warping. You may want to think about it before you start planing or sanding. They may just need drying out. This is just a thought. Fore and aft? 1/16"? Get OUTAHERE! Forget it. You'll see lots worse than that before it's over. Besides, it'll sag that much under it's own weight in the vertical dimension. Get used to it. In a coupla years you'll know why we say "close enough for KR work". If I'd rebuilt everything that wasn't perfect, I'd still be working on the fuselage sides... From: "Auburn Packwood" Date: Tue, 29 Feb 2000 20:51:21 -0800 X-Message-Number: 19 How much is a KR2 worth? I have had the experience of being taken advantage of, or may I say by my ignorant mistake I bought a KR not knowing what to inspect. You could invest a lot of money if you don't watch! Example: A kit runs about 8000.00 then there's the other necesities featherfill and paint=150.00 an engine=2500-6000.00 then we need instruments 750-2000.00 any extras..radios 700-1500.00 and a cheap GPS 650.00 how about a parachute ?? Strobe lights anybody...850.00. The biggestis my labor say 2000hrs@10.00per hr. I figure I could have around $37,175.00 Then this week the Lord favored me and I found a perfect professional built KR2 which only needs instuments and an engine. Already painted! for a little of nothing! My point being that maybe some of us don't value our planes at nearly the price they are worth! A person invest $10,000 in the plane without the engine, plus all the tedious labor and sells his creation for chicken feed. Wake up people. Is the KR a good plane or not? Mine will soon be tracking between Missouri and South America. Besides all the enjoyment it will give me, it will also save me money! But I'm just an ignorant Missionary. You MUST have a pump (or 2) and you need about 3psi (I think). I use a old C 75 with a Stromberg. It needs 2" at steepest climb, but look at the needle and seat, they are HUGE in comparison with auto types. Aeroengines ARE different. 3 You must have sufficient flow. Lift the main wheels up 3' put the tail on the ground. Take the drain plug out of the Carby and measure the fuel flow ( tank empting) with the pump on and off ( electrics failure). If you dont get 150% and 120% of max fuel burn, fix it, dont fly it. 4 vapour locks and percolation --- Mark Langford wrote: > Mike Mims wrote: > > > --- > You are currently subscribed to kr-net as: > gands_schott@yahoo.com > To unsubscribe send a blank email to > leave-kr-net-177744Q@telelists.com > __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
