I think that anyone who uses the D'fly canopy has been pleased. It is wider than the stock KR. The KR looks like a free-blown canopy, so it is more rounded, like a soap bubble. The D'fly has more head room without increasing the overall height of the plane. The disadvantage is that you can't use the pre-molded KR turtledeck. If you are scratch building, then that is not a problem. The difficulty with the premolded parts is the limitation of how far the turtle deck will widen out over a widened fuselage. On a KR note, There is a KR-wood kit and plans for sale at ebay. I don't know the fellow, so here is the link. http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=296653253 One thought on the kit for sale though, the fellow claims the wood is for a KR-2S, but the wood has been in storage for 4 years. I didn't think the KR-2S design was that old. I could be wrong. Carpes Diem. I think that is right term. Message-ID: <000601bf9bd9$84043520$a5f780ce@300EMACHINE> KRNetHeads, It's been one of those days, already! I've been working on wiring a lot lately, so I've been using my 30 watt soldering iron a lot, and have accidently left it plugged in a time or two. I woke up this morning at about 2:00 AM to the wail of several smoke detectors. I have 7 of them wired together, so if a fire starts anywhere in the house (including the basement) everybody's aware of it pretty quickly. It didn't take long to figure out that nothing upstairs was on fire, so I opened the basement door and was greeted with a dull orange glow and a terrified cat. My worst fears had been realized. A fire was blazing right under my instrument panel! Fortunately I have about 5 fire extinguishers located close by, and quickly doused the 3 foot flames. The bad news is that my new Terra radio and transponder, all those nice instruments, my main spar, wing tanks, fuselage bottom and both fuselage sides were TOAST! It was almost burned in half! Looks like I'll get that chance to build one the RIGHT way next time around! I woke up this morning thinking maybe I'll do an RV6 next, maybe using a nice certified 0-300 this time around. Strictly by the plans, you know? What a way to start an April Fool's day, with a nightmare like that. I hope I don't have any more dreams like that anytime soon... Check it out. It's pretty neat. Sorry, but Arnold is gone, and he won't be back! If you want to be in this thing, email me a photo of yourself and your project, along with the URL to your website (if you have one) and your email address. If you want to make it REALLY easy on me, you can make the personal picture 120x120 pixels, and the project picture 275 pixels wide, but I can do that pretty quickly if you don't know how or have what it takes. I think it's important for folks to have some face to attach their incoming emails to, as it helps to make this a more personal medium. I really think this is the heart of the web page, showing who we all are and what we're doing. I also aimed the FAQ at Kim's very comprehensive FAQ site and fixed a few other little problems that I found. I'll gradually update things as I make time.
