KR national gathering will once again be held at Lake Barkley State Resort Park in far western Kentucky. The dates are as follows: Sept. 22, 23 & 24th. Reservations can be made at the lodge by calling 1-800-325-1708. I reserved all of the rooms they had available, and a couple of cottages and cabins. In regard to the smoking rooms left, we have had these reservations since one week after last years event. I am certain that all of the nonsmoking rooms have been taken. Believe me, don't miss out on the opportunity to stay at this lodge simply because you will be in a "smoking" room. It probably hasn't been rented by a smoker because this is such a beautiful place, you take "next available" just to stay there. I have rented to convention room at Lake Barkley this year for the banquet so we don't have to drive across the lake like last year........although that sunset across the water was worth the trip. On site here you will find boat rental, tennis, indoor swimming pool, golfing, hiking, miniature golf, deer greeting you at your front door and BTW an airport on the state grounds and away from anything else. You can camp at the airport although there are no shower facilities. There is a bathroom in the FBO building. We will be catered by the same people for dinner and lunch at the airport on Friday night and Saturday lunch. I really do need to know about the forums. Some people said they didn't have enough time to do everything on Saturday last year and would like to really start the thing on Friday. I'm sure Langford will do his forum on glassing and I will do Smooth Prime and GPS. I need to know right now if anyone is willing to do a forum and what kind of forums do all of you want to have. I'm not getting much response here. If it continues, we will do as we did last year. I would really like to have a swap table this year. Oscar has done some things, as have other, by supplying me will some "stuff" they don't need out of their garages....ie, clamps and such, to give away at the banquet. Hint, hint, help some future builders out by bring some of this with you that you are willing to give away at the banquet........instead of giving away catalogs:-). Anyone seen Melody Mountains lately????? BTW, I flew to Ashland, KY yesterday for their fly-in and ran into Norm Leonard. Norm is the guy who put on the toilet paper cutting flight in his KR at the gathering last year. He had flown his KR in from Virginia. http://www.state.ky.us/agencies/parks/lakebark.htm Dana Overall 2000 KR Gathering host Richmond, KY mailto:kr2616tj@aol.com http://www.geocities.com/CapeCanaveral/hangar/7085/ ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 24 Jun 2000 20:02:46 -0500 To: From: "Mark Langford" Subject: Fwd: Cape Girardeau Airshow Message-ID: <000f01bfde41$13680d50$a5f780ce@300emachine> From: M & C T To: langford@hiwaay.net Sent: Saturday, June 24, 2000 8:07 AM Subject: KR-2 Fly In How about getting some of those KR-2's to come to the Cape Girardeau Airshow. Even more amazing is the implication that the FAA (Friendly Airplane Agency) would allow the aircraft to be approved for flight. There are plenty of examples of ways to do it, so no excuse for not having it. If your POSA hangs straight down, put an elbow on it and a heat box control in front of it; you could use the ram air effectively too. We use stub exhaust stacks and "Y" tube intakes for our gravity fed Posa's. I too have agonized over this problem, and have tried a few ideas, but conventional carbheat is a difficult thing to do on a Sonerai I. I know this is a KR list, but I didn't think it was a KR only list when it came to power plants. one of the best ways to figure out the right way to do stuff is to see how the other guys are doing it. The KR is not the only VW based airframe, I can think of ten just off the top of my head. BTW ,I know of several Sonerai 1's that don't have carb heat , that feds have approved for flight. But I plan on using mind for long cross countrys , so it would be nice to have some form of carb heat available. Not intended as a flame, just to inform.
