So I tried to fill all my pin holes and cloth weave with the filler. I only rolled on 3 coats of prime. After sanding I took a brush and hit spots that needed a little more. Brush in one hand, roller in the other. Roll it immediately. Don't leave any prime on that has a shine. The texture the roller leaves is easy to sand and anything more will have to be sanded off. I thought I wanted to spray on a last coat just to cover a few places where I had sanded through and I wanted to have good UV protection. Well, It was the wrong thing to do. after talking to the factory reps and told it could be done. I sprayed it on, knowing I would have to sand it out one last time. After sanding out all the runs caused by the watered down primer I was nearly back to where I started.. All-in-all the building of my KR has been a very rewarding experience for me.....Picture in the paint coming soon.................... I've been trying to come up with ideals that would make it easier to enter and exit. I have been considering making the instrument panel attached to the canopy frame so that it raises up with the canopy. One of many concerns is the fact that the electrical wires and pitot static tubes would have to be flexed every time the canopy is opened and closed, but I think that they could be made to do safely. After all there is a wire bundle in most car doors thet get flexed quite often. I'm planning on center mounted engine controls but they may be fixed so as not to rotate with the canpoy. I also will not have a header tank so I will have plenty of room between the instrument panel and the fire wall. I can also move the hinge point closer to the fire wall if necessary. Another Ideal is to hinge the instrument panel seperately from the canopy so that it could be raised a few inches with the canopy open. I'm sure there are many things that I have not thought of and I'm asking for your input as this is still very much in the thinking and planning stage. Please feel free to offer suggestions as to why or why not and how or how not to do this. I also would appreciate any likely problems you can think of. It is called experimental isn't it. Hope to see everyone at the gathering.
