I have been flying behind a Warnke props for 3 and a 1/2 years and love them. They do work. I can hear the pitch change about 200ft into the takeoff roll. From there on out it works like a constant speed prop. Thu not a true constant speed, it seems to have about a 300rpm range. Be prepared, they are not cheep. But worth every cent. Tried Props Inc. and Hegy. The Warnke wins hands down. I have noticed on this KR2 that it takes some effort to lift the elevator with the stick while it is sitting in the hangar, I am not sure if it is balanced. Does the tail lift itself when the airspeed comes up and lighten the load on the stick sorta to neutral? If it is balanced would it only be stick forward elevator down while sitting? I don't think so but would like some help on this please. Larry Howell laheze@aol.com Hi Larry / Gary For every pro there seems to be a con unfortunately. On my KR2 I added a bungee to the up elevator cable to counter the elevator weight because I could not get the full effectiveness out of the trim tab on landing. I do most of my flying alone with a nearly full 20 gallon header tank causing a forward CG. With this condition I found I couldn't get enough nose up trim even with my 20% oversized trim tab. I wanted to be able to trim on descent to about 75 mph and couldn't until I added the bungee. After doing this I was surprised at how much more effective the tab was. In my case I believe it was a very simple and worthwhile mod. My elevator pulley bracket mounts on the forward side of the rear spar as per the plans. I attached a small piece of Aluminum angle to the back side of the rear spar, using one of those existing fasteners. I attached a small aluminum AN742 clamp to the "up" elevator cable. This clamp is a P shaped clamp that pinches the cable tight enough that it will not slip on the cable unless the fastener is loosened. I installed a 1/2" piece of Teflon tubing over the cable and clamped over that. This P clamp attachment provides the adjustment necessary to just overcome the elevator weight. I used a standard 18" bungee attached to each, and adjusted the position of the P clamp until it just over came the elevator weight with the plane in the level attitude. Do not use a short bungee because in the full up elevator position you don't want the bungee to become slack and possibly foul the cables. It has worked well for over 10 years with no adjustment. I plan to replace it with a new bungee at my next annual. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 7 Feb 2001 13:32:39 -0800 To: "Christine Coolidge" , , "larry flesner" From: "Betty & Donald Hamm" Subject: Re: KR> test message Message-ID: <001401c0914d$806fe520$c8b01c3f@oemcomputer> Don Hamm KR2 builder Hemet Ca. ----- Original Message ----- From: "larry flesner" To: "Christine Coolidge" ; Sent: Sunday, February 04, 2001 6:05 AM Subject: KR> test message > > > This is a test. What it gives you is a perfectly level top=20 longeron to work with. It makes it so much easier to lay out and install=20 your turtle deck, canopy frame and forward deck. If you put the plywood on before the sides are bent, there is no way to=20 avoid the curvature. Some people build the spruce truss and bend it to=20 shape before the plywood is installed.
