I had about 800 hours under my belt when this old time bush guy taught me this lean side adjustment. It takes a while to get by the mental block of being instructed one way and then changing, but is does work better. Just a work of caution, if your on the lean side and hear any pings get back on the rich side of peak, a minor adjustment in timing will remedy and you can be back on the lean side. This is fine tuning and is well worth it. Good Luck and Happy Flying! However, I travel frequently and would love to have a nice little KR. I am looking to purchase a nice, fast (160 mph+), well built KR2/2S that I can use for day and night VFR, and I'll be bringing my checkbook and more importantly my wife's blessing to the gathering. I've been trying to schedule a trip over there ever since Bjork and the Sugarcubes hit the states. We have real good airfare prices from Boston to Riekevic. Sometimes as low at $250 RT. How many kr's are flying over there? Tell me the best time of year to visit and I'm there. Message-ID: <006501c12c4b$cfe70e00$0100a8c0@cmc3075662a> I was just looking at the pictures of the 99 Gathering, at http://home.hiwaay.net/~langford/barkley99/ , which brought back a lot of memories, and if nothing else, will show you what color Marty's plane really is (I forgot to set my camera's color balance to 5500K instead of "auto" when I took that air-to-air shot. All kidding aside, when the third week of September rolls around, everybody I work with knows I'll be gone to the Gathering for a few days, regardless. I suppose I'll let Jim Hill slide though, since he's out in the middle of the Pacific at Kwajulein (I'm pretty sure I didn't spell that right, and don't really care) acting as site manager for the national missile defense effort. The neat thing about this year is that NEXT year there will be a whole new crop of the new breed of KR2S's showing up at the Gathering.... Okay Mark, I know I've had my share of problems getting my airplane to the gatherings and this year I thought I was going to make it with my airplane. However fate dealt me a different hand and it will be a bit longer before I can fly it. Not from a lack in building effort, more of a lack getting the new parts built for the type 4 rear drive (the drive shaft built for the type one proved to be less than adequate for the 100 hp type 4 and in turn twisted the shaft). Steve Bennett has already redesigned the components for the type 4, now I am waiting for the new parts to be machined. We' ll have more info on this at the gathering. So now for you saying that there will be a new breed of KR2S's showing up at the gathering next year that will have to be seen with the way you guys spend more time in front of your computers than building I don't see it happening :) See ya there, no insult intended, just a little ribbing, get it done I want to see it.
