You have to be some what bold to build and fly your own airplane. There was a time when flying itself was considered bold, and lets face it, flying today even in spam cans is a no bozos activity. I guess that's what makes it so much fun. -----Original Message----- From: Paul Gangemi [mailto:paulwasp@webtv.net] Sent: Tuesday, February 05, 2002 8:23 PM To: krnet@mailinglists.org Subject: KR> old-bold Hey! Just try to wrap up away from the very end. Do not use teflon tape on fuel lines, some do but that is dangerous. I used to maintain some hydraulic machinery years ago when I was a kid and no matter how carefull I was with the tape, I usually would find little pieces of it in the system. In a fuel system for example, a little piece in the system could kill you. After 6 hours of flying on my KR2S , no complaints. Cost me $220.00 CDN ( approx. $140.00 USD) made out of 7075 Al and weighs 2 lbs , which is as light as I could get it after removing all excess material. It was made by a professional machinist on a CNC lathe ( on the night shift ) using first class equipment by an aviation related company. Don't know if the Hapi hub flange is the same as the Force One. If you are interested in getting one through me , I can fax you the drawing and you can confirm dimensions. You would have to pay shipping /freight from Toronto , as well. It really depends on the hub and bearing. Has that bearing been re-inforced? Does the bolt extend into the crankshaft beyond the bearing? I had a Hub extension of about 3" on a Gilbert Duty engine that I modified to extend the bolt into the shaft, and never had a problem with it. In any case, if that bolt does not extend deeper into the shaft that where the bearing is, you need to have it fixed. Daniel R.
