I've had a couple people email me this week to get pics of how I installed the MAC on my KR. I sent pics with the project when I sold it so I'm posting how the MAC is installed in my current project. One email warned of putting weight in one elevator and not in another. My reply was several KRs are flying with the MAC installed aft of the elevator spar with no problem. With resin, cloth, slurry, flox, glue and so on, there's no way each side of a KR elevator weighs the same as the other side anyway. The pics below replicate my KR installation with the MAC mounted on the aft side of the elevator spar with the metal pushrod going directly (straight) to the trim tab. A cover plate is fabricated (in KR, assembled in RV:-). KR or RV, it all works the same. No additional weight is added to the other side of the RV elevator either. I have been using Turbocad since version 5 it is up to version 8.1. Cost is about $100US for the standard package, or $500US for the Pro package, and Ani Lab runs $50US extra. Both can be downloaded from the net. It is a very easy program to learn compared to Acad and some others. http://www.turbocad.com/ http://www.softdevspb.com/plugins/AniLabPage/AniLab_v2.htm Dave Mullins Nashua, New Hampshire http://n323xl.iwarp.com "dene.collett" wrote: > Hi guys > I was wondering (since it is friday) if any one knows of a CAD program that > will allow me to animate a design. Aub Coote from oz, just had is first flight in is kR2, has been building = for many years, Aub has many 1000's of hours as an instructor and this = is a copy of the email I got from his son . Hi Phil, Dad rang me at today work and spent 10 minutes telling me about the = first flight, I was a little disappointed not to have been there but it = could not be helped. He said that it was quite rough flying with the weather conditions so = only flew for 20 minutes. It flew level so he was happy he had built it straight Needs to change spring tension on trim as he had to hold 2-3 pounds = pressure on stick Needs to increase aileron throw as they weren't effective enough. Small oil leak on rocker covers will require more tension on them Small oil leak on propeller extension will investigate further CHT showed 400 degrees after 20 minutes of flying. Stall warning switch worked okay and stall was below 40 knots, he said = he will check it more closely next time to see exact speed at stall. He will not be able to fly it again for a least a week as they are going = to Adelaide for the week to visit my sister. Could you tell me you web page address so I can show Aub? Regards, Martin Coote Well done AUB. I'll find a picture of Aub's KR2 and send it out soon. regards Phil Matheson matheson@dodo.com.au ------=_NextPart_000_002D_01C1EE97.7953EC20-- ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 27 Apr 2002 19:49:09 -0400 To: krnet@mailinglists.org From: Kenneth L Wiltrout Subject: 6399U Message-ID: <20020427.194911.-381931.0.klw1953@juno.com> Just an update to those who remember my problems with oil temps getting out of hand in the climb. Over the winter I modified the lower cowl by incorporating a scoop into the air inlet, today I flew the bird ( S ) up to pattern altitude and did a couple of touch and goes at the new home for my plane in Myerstown Pa. Now it was not hot or anything probably around upper 60's to lower 70's but what a difference, the oil temps never went over 160, and I do realize that on a hot day things will run warmer but last year during a cool day like today, 220 in the climb after a couple of touch and goes was normal. Wheeeeeeeeeew, looks like I accomplished something.---------------------That's all! ________________________________________________________________ GET INTERNET ACCESS FROM JUNO!
