Does somebody know the software FAR 23 LOADS, a computer program which calculates loads on your airplane, of Aero Science Software from Wichita-Kansas? A standard version is $119, a professional version is $219! If somebody know something about this, I would like to know if it is good!!!!! They don't provide email, but the addres is: Aero Science Software, 7415 Tanglewood Ct., Wichita, KS 67206----- 316-682-1644. And about the Wings 2.0 - a CAD software to design models of planes and sailplanes? See in http://membres.lycos.fr/wings2 about this software. I know that is only for RC models, but ..... perhaps, would be adequate for full size planes? Robert, do you experimented build this your spar hollowed inside? According the resistance of materials, there is a neutral line inside that don't suffer any strength (flexion/compression)! By I know, the acrobatics planes must support a load factor (G)=L (lift)/W(weight) in +6G/-3G, and the wings of the plane are which must support this load! In a leveled flight your G is 1 (one) and L=W, this is, the wings support (theoretically) the total weight of the plane! See in http://www.monmouth.com/~jsd/how/htm to know more about!!! Regards! The question is, how do I obtain the dimensions for the current spar and the average weight? Also, is there a software program which will help me with load calculations? My spar is 2"x8.125"x 96" and tapers to 2"x 5.250". It weighs slightly over 16 lbs. but could be constructed lighter, and it will support the weight of a Ford 4wd suspended from its center without any visable signs of damage externally or internally. Walking along the length of it without any flex would be no problem as the truck barely flexes it. Just how strong does a wing spar have to be anyway????? > > > > New @ this Robert > > > ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 21 Jun 2002 20:10:09 EDT To: rfarmer@naxs.net, krnet@mailinglists.org From: CHOCTAWCWR@aol.com Subject: Re: KR> Re: spar dimensions and weights Message-ID: <6a.21bf7c55.2a451a61@aol.com> --part1_6a.21bf7c55.2a451a61_boundary Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit ok folks this isnt what the net was intended for, if you must act in such a manner at least have enough courtesy to the other 500 on the list not to send it to us, if you cant figure out how to do this i am sure there are at least 500 people out there that will be happy to educate you. charles robison atlanta, texas --part1_6a.21bf7c55.2a451a61_boundary-- ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 21 Jun 2002 23:49:37 +0200 To: From: "Serge F. Larry, Thanks for the kind words. I think I could do a decent job on a KR. Built a number of Rans aircraft when I was in stationed in Panama and I used to teach woodworking in my spare time when I was stationed at Tinker. Little tale that, first time I ever cut wood towards building a KR was at the Tinker wood shop building one with a partner there at Tinker. Young guy came into the shop all fired up about having one but no skills with wood nor tools. My involvement kinda ended when I got an assignment to Davis-Monthan and I lost track of that guy. I always hoped he finished it. As for my own, been busy with the old MBA square filling effort lately but I like to keep up so when I do get around to building one. Hence I've been on this list for quite some time quietly lurking and checking out everyone's projects through their web sites. I actually plan on building an engine first though I think. I've just updated my Corvair engine web page to reflect that, among other things. If you don't have anything else to do tonight, check out the details of its construction at http://home.hiwaay.net/~langford/corvair/ . It's too bad you Australian guys don't have Corvairs. Other than that, work has kept me way too busy, traveling for the last month, although it's been really good for business. Maybe I'll have a chance to do some KR work while it's still summer. I need to finish up the body work on the bottom, and paint it, then move on to permanent engine installation, finish up the wingtips, install wheelpants, and paint the whole thing. Well, that and about a thousand other little details. At least the engine is done with...
