Virg,

I don't have a blue background and my font is supposed to be=20 black.  If this comes to you with blue on blue, let me know = and I=20 will change it to something else.

Bob Hoover makes a very good case for replacing the tubes= each=20 time, rather than re-using them.  He says that while it is = easy to=20 get the outside clean, it is next to impossible to get all the=20 sludge that may accumulate in the accordian ends of the inside= of=20 the tubes.

What are New Vitron seals and where do = you=20 get them?

You do not need the= =20 spring tubes. Just take each tube between your two index fingers = and=20 bend the accordian sections a little out of line. Turn it 180 = degrees=20 and do it again. Yhis lengthens the tubes and makes them tight = between=20 the  heads and case, Virg
Blue letters on Blue are hard to read.

Thanks for the Bob Hoover address.  Jerry is a = big fan=20 of Bob's.  A few days ago I mentioned the spring= =20 loaded push rod tubes.  I really thought they = were the=20 way to go, but Bob would refer to me as a VW = Engine=20 Builder that you would want to stay away from, because=20 I used them.

He had a really good reason for his opinion.  The= =20 stock tubes are great heat conductors.  While my other= =20 engine never ran hot, I think I will stick with stock on = this=20 one.

The original installation just had a stainless screen in the inlet to keep the big pieces and birds and bugs out. If I do put in a filter I was thinking of using some of the pleated filter paper from a car air filter or trying to find a ready made car filter that looked about the right size. I don't have a lot of room with my new arrangement. Does anyone hae any idea on how many square inches of what kind of material to use? Are most people running without a filter? I will rarely, if ever, use a non paved runway. ------------------------------ End of krnet Digest ***********************************
