President Bush is scheduled to visit Fort Stewart, Georgia, at 9:30 a.m. to show his appreciation for soldiers who served in Iraq. The president is then scheduled to attend a fund-raising lunch at the Mississippi Coliseum in Jackson, Mississippi, at 1:05 p.m. He will later make a speech at 5:35 p.m. at the Power Center in Houston. Based on previous presidential travel, AOPA anticipates the notams to establish 30-nautical-mile-radius temporary flight restrictions (TFRs) limiting general aviation flight. AOPA denounced the FAA's late release of the notams establishing the TFRs, which had not been issued as of 4 p.m. Eastern time Thursday. AOPA will post the notams on AOPA Online ( http://www.aopa.org/whatsnew/notams.html ) as soon as possible after they are issued. Because TFR airspace frequently changes, AOPA strongly encourages pilots to obtain a briefing and CHECK NOTAMS before every flight. Violators will be intercepted and forced to land. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 11 Sep 2003 21:38:49 GMT From: ronlee@pcisys.net To: KR builders and pilots Subject: Re: KR>Stuck in Trenton Message-ID: <200309112138.h8BLc93a022108@mail.pcisys.net> Precedence: list Message: 7 I expect wheels up at 0900 MDT. I did not get out of the pattern to give it a good test, however my first impression is a good one. The prop was set to the low pitch stop. My 2000 CC type 4 was only able to turn 3000 RPM static. My climb was better then I remember and my VSI was not talking. I started climbing at 85 MPH and soon reduced the speed to 70 to see if the VSI was sick. I was out climbing the 152 ahead of me and once I turned to down wind, I had to reduce power to keep from overtaking the little Cessna. As I was leveling off the RPM climbed to 3300 and the Airspeed indicated 120 MPH. I'm excited and feel that my fear loosing the high speed that I enjoyed with the Sterba prop may be unfounded. Someone commented the other day that IVO does not make a Prop for our engines. That statement is incorrect. They used to only make props for the Rotax type engines and the high horse power engines. They how make this mid range prop that I am flying. For around USD 1200, you can get both the prop and the cockpit control for in-flight pitch changes. If you're poor like me you can buy the prop now and later buy the electric pitch change mechanisms. Red Oak--- I did not get the KR in the air as early as I had planed, and the storm front will be moving between Red Oak and Michigan this weekend. So, I have elected to not make the trip. I will be canceling my reservations at the Red Coach Inn tonight. I do wish that Those who attend could vote to hold the event earlier in the season. This time of year always has weather issues. Here in S. E. Michigan today and tomorrow will be thick fog. Any way have a blast for me. I can trim for 100kts hands-off , nice, if I give a control input or a gust and the KR continues at say 90kts or 110kts. It does not return to the trim speed. However it does not start de- or accelerate, it just stays wherever you pointed it. This problem is more pronounced with a aft c/g condition. As I have only 26 hours on it I will continue to experiment with: 1.) Trim authority, I have a slight problem with trim authority. This might be due to a tailplane incident, however my tailplane is glued in place and I have increased the trim tab area to increase trim authority. 2.) secondly play around with the amount of lead in the tail. Currently I fly with 2,8kg of lead. I think I was fighting trim authority with c/g position in the past from next weekend on I will work on trim authority. Dana, I guess you missed my "rebuttal", so I will repeat it for you. There is an axiom in the legal profession. 1. If your case is weak on the law, argue the facts. 2. If your case is weak on the facts, argue the law. 3. If your case is weak on the facts and the law; attack your opponent! I have noted your unnecessary and uncalled for personal attacks on me. However, I have heard precious little to refute anything factual which I said about the metric system of measure. Like it or NOT; the metric system never was the one that drove the world's economy. Sure hope you fellows build aircraft better than you argue for the metric system of measure. I would hate read about any of you in NTSB statistics. I have replied to everyone else who has posted on this subject off the net privately. An effort to keep the list aircraft related. But you, and you alone, just don't seem to want to let go with the personal attacks. For the record, I find your actions and opinions deplorable too. I did not start the metric love fest on this list. I merely pointed out the economic fallacy of adopting that inferior foreign system. As Harry Truman once said, if you can't take the heat, stay out of the kitchen. Oh yeah, Harry truman had some more advice that would apply to you as well. He said "If you want a friend, buy a dog." With your personality and your extreme viewpoints, I doubt you have a lot of friends. Sincerely, Dean Allen __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! In mine, the trim is OK to relieve stick pressure, but the aircraft is way too sensitive in pitch to fly hands off.
