Really, if you build the "bent up spar" thing using the AS5048 (the thicker of the bunch) airfoil at the root, it would be advisable to make your own gear leg to spar brackets, because the spars are taller than the stock spars. See the drawing in the middle of http://www.krnet.org/as504x/as5046inst.html for more details, but note that TET no longer sells these brackets, so you'll have to whip up your own out of .125" thick 4130 steel. Making them to the same dimensions (but taller) as the cast Diehl brackets should work fine, at least Troy made some that he ripped the aluminum gear legs off of and the brackets weren't bothered by it. These are probably no heavier than the Diehl castings. Don't ask me for dimensions though. Mine are kind of buried now. So when you weld these up, just change the angle a tad (seems like it's about 3 degrees) to compensate, and you won't have a camber problem... I was living in a very small house and really had no place to build the boat except in the master bedroom. (I was single) I only opened and removed the wood as need it. I was also worried about removing all of the wood from the boxes and not have a proper place to stack it so that it would not warp. However, when I went looking for the spar material for the horizontal and elevator I could not find them. Now I am cutting out my templates for the wing, making the skins for the wing spars and I am out of plywood. I've been frugal with the wood not wasting anything but still I am out. Also I think I've ordered 5/8 random stock at least three times. The wood came from Aircraft Spruce and then Rand sent it to me. Has else experienced this kind of shortage from Aircraft Spruce? I only got 3 4' x 8' sheets of mahogany 3/32 thick, 3 4' x 4' sheets of birch 2.5 mm thick and 1, 4' x 4' sheet of 1/4 in thick. I lost my material list for the plywood. The screens are scaleable now so viewing the data was easy. It certainly would not be a tool to punch through cell openings but might be of value to you in making important weather decisions. I wound up with extra, rather than being shorted (and I'm not talking about the 5/8 random). So, it was a mistake I can live with. However, the cables and pullies they sent me don't match quite right. The cables are too big for the pullies, or the pullies are too small for the cables, but I haven't dealt with trying to correct that situation yet, since I'm not to that phase yet.
