As I stated in my first post, the CG has to be correct at whatever the airplane weight turns out to be. I would say that within reason, CG takes priority over total weight. A light airplane with a bad CG location will probably "do you in" quicker than an airplane slightly over gross with a good CG location. Additional weight will certainly hurt performance but the airplane should be flyable, again within reason. You have to be comfortable with the airplane you are building or you aren't going to fly it when you're finished. Let common sense prevail !! If I had a 12 gal fuel capacity with my 0-200 I would consider the aircraft to have a "comfortable" one hour range. Bigger engine, more fuel, more weight, bigger engine, more fuel, more weight. My compliments to the builder, he must be a perfectionist because his aircraft looks perfect and if it ever goes up for sale I am sure he will have no trouble selling it and at a high dollar price. My KR-2 won first prize in the composite division at the Chino airport, Chino California way back in 1977 at the annual fly-in and Air show. If your friends KR-2SS had been there in competition, I am sure I would not have won.
