I've not noticed any buffeting from mine. Pictures taken of my setup are on my site at KRnet. Jennette Rand liked it so well she had her daughter take a picture of it when they visited. It includes about $15 material cost (max) and could be inclosed if one wants to take the time. It works flawlessly. A friend of mine did about 20 minutes of welding to build it. I have nothing attached to the top longeron to grab your flesh or tear you clothes as you enter or exit. This could cause you low compression. How about the oil temp? Is it ok? On mine it was fine in humid air or in the winter months. I would at least pull the exhaust off of the cylinders and do a visual on the valve guides. One more question, Are they millennium cylinders? I heard nothing but bad about them. You can get an overhaul kit for about 3k. I comes with 4 cylinders (from continental), and if you are an A&P you can sign off the overhaul as major. On mine it was fine in >humid air or in the winter months. >Chris Theroux +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ My oil pressure is "by the book" at 40 pounds hot, 60+ on a cold start. My temp will not quite reach 180 even after 30 minutes in the air so. My cylinder head temp is around 300F after climbout and set up in cruise so I think I have a basicly sound engine with a good setup (cowl, cooling, etc.) I got two lengthly posts from two very knowledgeable people and if they would give me their permission I'd like to share the info with the group. They know who the are and I think they both have given me info that will solve my problem. Right now my prop is rolling down the interstate to Florida to Ed Sterba's house to be repitched from a 68D to a 64D. I hope to get at least 200 more rpm for takeoff and climbout and with the extra rpm on top end my cruise should hold or even improve. I'll use the downtime to "tweek" the engine and probably go out to exercise the Tripacer. :-) I hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas or a very happy holiday season for whatever holiday you are celebrating. To trail it home to Houston, = I converted my boat trailer to a flat bed. The 2 wheel trailer was = designed for a 25ft MacGregor. I removed the bunkboards and cut 5/8 = inch 4x8 plywood sheets to fit the trailer frame, using U bolts to = secure them. 2-2x8x10ft planks formed the ramp. I placed the wings = under the plane, bedded with 1" styrofoam sheets from Home Depot. Then = I deflated the tires to about 20psi. The tail wheel was bolted to a = piece of aluminum angle that was in turn secured to the flooring with = deck screws. I put pieces of 2x4 in front and behind the mains to = prevent rolling and strapped the wheels down with 1" ratchet straps from = Harbor Freight. The plane rode well and arrived with no damage.
