I have an allergy to any lumps and bumps that break the lines so I have decided on the following: 1: Fuel cap will seal 100%. 2: It will be located under a flush lid that conforms to fuselage shape, in fact it will be made from the piece that I cut out of the front deck. 3: Header vent will be from highest point in tank and will be routed to exit somewhere on the underside of fuz facing forward for a little ram air. 4: Wing tank vents will go to header tank and will be at the header "full" level which will be about 50mm from the top of tank. The reason for this is if someone turns on the fuel transfer pump when the header tank is already full, the wing tank vents will become submerged and suck fuel in stead of air so circulate the fuel in stead of dumping it out the header vent (impossible to overflow header). 5: Wing tanks will be filled via header as per Serge's system with an isolation valve in series so the wing tanks don't have to be used on shorter trips. 6: In case of transfer pump failure, my main feed to the motor goes via a 3 way 3 position (all off, header, wings) selector valve that can supply the motor from the header (normal) or directly from the wing tanks (transfer pump failure). 6: sight guage on header tank only, no plan for guages in wing tanks yet. Thanks again. Hopefully it will make it through this time. I went through both of these questions also. What you need to do to fly at night is defined by your operating limitations. Mine said "unless appropriately equipped for night and/or IFR operations...day VFR only". I asked the FSDO and EAA and both concured that I just needed to add the lights and make a logbook entry that I had appropriately equipped the plane for night operations. If you are getting the limitations for the first time be sure that the inspector puts in the "unless" clause instead of just writing your limitations for VFR day only. I believe that this is normally what they do, but each inspector is different and if you don't catch it and have it fixed you will have trouble getting them changed later. I also asked about increasing weight on my plane that already had the operating limitations and the gross weight established. I spoke to two different people at the FSDO and they referred me to someone at the MIDO in Atlanta that didn't really know either. I called the EAA tech line and they told me that for a homebuilt on its initial test flying you need to test fly it up to the gross weight that you want established. On an existing plane that you want to increase the weight on you do it like making a major alteration by notifying the FSDO and getting a 5 hour test period where you test up to the new gross weight. I called back the person at the MIDO and she concured with their opinion. I sent a letter to the FSDO and they concured also. The interresting thing is that neither the MIDO or FSDO could come up with the answer themselves, but they agreed to what I told them that I thought the answer was. One thing that I am fairly certain on is that you can't just pick a gross weight out of the air and not actually test fly the plane at that weight during the test phase without passengers and enter in the logbook that you tested at that weight. You do need to put the weight you tested the plane at in the logbook after you finish the test phase. If you only test to 900 pounds then you have an accident someday at 1,200 pounds you are going to be in trouble no matter what you show as your gross weight. ---------- Original Message ---------------------------------- From: "Mark Langford" Reply-To: KRnet Date: Mon, 1 Mar 2004 12:31:56 -0600 >NetHeads, > >A few weeks ago I reported that my FSDO had told me that if I wanted to >fly my plane with no nav lights, and then add them later, I'd have to >have the DAR reinspect the plane and sign it off again. You must not have received my E to you several weeks ago concerning the decals that you are proposing. I am in the sign business, and do a lot of "stickers". I can either produce them at my shop, but would rather job them out to a contract printer in Missouri. My mark-up on the products are about 40%, and that coming out of the price will make the decals very affordable. I don't have my cost book with me at the moment, but This decal can sell for around 3 to 5 dollars. I figure the cost each to be less than 1 dollar. I = intend to go this year where ever it is and when, but support Orma on = the date change. Here is the post, any/all feedback welcome: I'm in England now, but was in San Antonio, TX, until last Summer. A couple of years ago some of us in TX started talking about a regional get-together we called "KRs Over Texas". Larry Howell in NE Texas organized a weekend at a nice little airport (one of those places where all the houses have hangers) near Canton, TX, in May (I think it was 2000) and we had a great turn-out and a lot of fun.=20 It did not replace the Gathering, and we got to meet a lot of people who quietly monitor the KRnet and a lot who just heard about it and showed up.=20 The big advantage you have is the warm Winter weather. So many KR builders would love to have a break in the middle of their miserable winter to get together with a few other KR builders in warm weather for a weekend. I think Sun-N-Fun may be a little too big for them, and it comes just a hair too late in the Spring. You might consider something in November or February.=20 At Canton I met and became very close friends with Larry and with Bob Stone, who was a friend of Ken Rand when Ken built his first KR-1. I also got to meet a lot of other guys who built great KRs and got to go over and see Les Palmer's plane and spend a day hanging out with him. What started out almost as a joke on KRnet ended up with me meeting a lot of great KR people and making some life-long friends. And a great weekend as well.=20 Best wishes for your get-together.=20 Frank Ross Colin & Bev Rainey KR2(td) N96TA Sanford, FL crainey1@cfl.rr.com or crbrn96ta@hotmail.com http://kr-builder.org/Colin/index.htmlFrom N9FL@cbiwireless.com Sat Mar 06 09:53:23 2004 Received: from [208.38.197.130] (helo=nms02.infogears.com) by lizard.esosoft.net with esmtp (Exim 3.36 #1) id 1AzfzG-000CzA-00 for krnet@mylist.net; Sat, 06 Mar 2004 09:53:23 -0800 Received: from CenterDesk (unknown [192.168.41.93]) by nms02.infogears.com (Postfix) with SMTP id B712E495D1C for ; Sat, 6 Mar 2004 10:46:16 -0700 (MST) Message-ID: <001a01c403a2$cf193ee0$5d29a8c0@CenterDesk> From: "Louis Staalberg" To: "KR builders and pilots" Date: Sat, 6 Mar 2004 10:45:26 -0700 MIME-Version: 1.0 X-Priority: 3 X-MSMail-Priority: Normal X-Mailer: Microsoft Outlook Express 6.00.2800.1106 X-MIMEOLE: Produced By Microsoft MimeOLE V6.00.2800.1106 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable X-Content-Filtered-By: Mailman/MimeDel 2.1b3 Subject: KR>Change of e-mail address X-BeenThere: krnet@mylist.net X-Mailman-Version: 2.1b3 Precedence: list Reply-To: KRnet List-Id: KRnet List-Post: List-Subscribe: , List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Help: KR-Netters I have changed my e-mail address as follows: Old: N9FL@cybertrails.com New: N9FL@cbiwireless.com Regards, Louis Payson, Arizona N9FL@cbiwireless.com------------------------------ _______________________________________________ See KRnet list details at http://www.krnet.org/instructions.html End of KRnet Digest, Vol 332, Issue 1 ************************************* ================================== ABC Amber Outlook Converter v4.20 Trial version ==================================
