Extruded Polyurethane Foam insulation. Added 5 ribs to outer panel to facilitate easier installation of panels. Glassed both sides and hard as a rock. As soon as the fuel assembly arrives and gets installed closing up the wing will be a breeze and the best part, Very little sanding. Got to love it. Epoxy resin is a no brainer but since they are wet wings had to go with vinylester. Works well as long as you got the mix right, otherwise the foam melts. It is $5.95 if you pay for 2 years at a time. For that you get 100MB of storage and 1000 MB of transfer per month. If you want to know how much that is, well, KR-Builder.org has never had a problem with data transfer, but we are near the limit of the 100MB of storage. I have been removing folders with nothing but a mass of pics to save space and if I am frugal, will probably be able to get by with what I have. However, more space is available for a price. As you can see, it takes a lot of pics to take up 100MB of storage space. The nuts of the liability are, if you did not pay sales tax on out of state purchases from out of state businesses, not individuals, you are liable for the sales/use tax on the purchases...........with appropriate interest and penalty based on your state filing requirements. The property tax can be based on what you actually paid on purchases from businesses and individuals or a mutually agreed upon value basis. In Washington, they had state police touring the airports writing down registartion numbers. After my plane was seen twice on the same airport, they mailed me a sales tax bill for my Starduster based on a Bonanza value, even though it was registered in another state. It was negotiated down to something reasonable as I was living in the state most of that year. In New Mexico, all aircraft registration fees are based on maximum gross weight. New aircraft cost $.02/lb. After 2 years it goes down to $.015/lb. After 4 years, they cost $.01/lb. So, my KR now costs me $12/year for the state registration. There is no sales tax for building an experimental or sale between individuals for aircraft in this state. Only for a purchase from a broker or other commercial vendor. Iowa also treated aircraft in a similar manner to New Mexico at the time that I lived there, although I don't know what their registration fee was based on. Might be time to get a NM PO Box for the first year you register your plane. ;o) -Jeff > For you who have registered your planes, did your state come after you > for sales tax? I bought an airplane very similar to a KR-1 that is single seat, lightweight and aerodynamically slick, and I could use a little time in something lightweight, responsive, and slick like a KR-2. The plane I bought is a modified Star-lite, the single-seat predecessor to the Pulsar. This Star-lite has had the ailerons reduced in length so they are 4' long instead of full-span ailerons, and it is a tri-gear. VNE is 150mph, cruise 100mph, stall 42mph, empty weight is only 262lbs empty with Rotax 447 40hp for power. I'm a private pilot with 280hrs in GA planes like the Grumman Cheetah I owned last year, but I don't know the lightweight touch and speed management required for a KR or Starlite. I started building a KR-2S a few years back but had to sell the project (to Brian Kraut) and move on so I'm a bit familiar with the KR. I did get a little time in Tom Crawford's KR-2 a few years back and it was great. Here's a link to some pics from that ride. http://home.triad.rr.com/wingspan/TomCKR/crawford.htm If anyone has any helpful tips on transitioning to this Starlite plane, I'd love to hear it. There is an obvious difference in the mass of the Starlite in comparison to just about every other plane out there. How will that interact with the Rotax's 50x38 prop and aerodynamically smooth shape? -Tom Andersen Dallas, TX ------------------------------ Message: 12 Date: Thu, 9 Dec 2004 12:00:27 -0500 From: "Jack Cooper" Subject: RE: KR> Jack Cooper To: "KRnet" Message-ID: <410-22004124917027371@earthlink.net> Content-Type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII kr2cooper@earthlink.net Jack Cooper > [Original Message] > From: robert glidden > To: Krnet > Date: 12/8/2004 8:13:02 PM > Subject: KR> Jack Cooper > > Jack tried your email and came back undelivered. Please contact me privately about Mark L. engine cowl..Thanks Bob.... > > > Bob Glidden > Eminence,Indiana > KR2S N181FW > Corvair 110 > glidden@ccrtc.com > _______________________________________ > Search the KRnet Archives at http://www.maddyhome.com/krsrch/index.jsp > to UNsubscribe from KRnet, send a message to KRnet-leave@mylist.net > > please see other KRnet info at http://www.krnet.org/info.html ------------------------------ Message: 13 Date: Thu, 9 Dec 2004 12:13:53 -0500 From: "Jack Cooper" Subject: Re: RE: KR> gathering / how many days To: "KRnet" Message-ID: <410-220041249171353902@earthlink.net> Content-Type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII Mark The gathering is too many days away to count, it would be depressing but a countdown to the day your KR takes to the air is what I would like to hear. You can not get an airworhthness inspection until the plane is registered. There is no Florida registration, just the FAA. When you register a new plane with the FAA, weather it is a brand new N number or a transfer if you bought an existing plane they notify the state. Individual, partnerships, LLCs and corporations can be excluded from paying and collecting sales tax if they buy items for resale. Items purchased for business usage are taxed, ie., copy machine paper, ink, pens, vehicles, airplanes. It you form a corporation or LLC you now are required to file income tax returns. With income tax returns, items owned by the corporation and used by it's shareholders must be reported as income to the shareholder based upon a fair market value of asset usage. Example, you use the corporate airplane for personal use. It doing so you are receiving compensation via usage and must receive a 1099 for income in excess of $600 yearly. So, if you form a corporation to avoid sales tax, whether it is Delaware, NC or Timbucktoo the IRS is still going to see to it you are income taxed at the fair market value of the asset usage. So lets think about this; you use the airplane for 200 hours per year. The average retail rate is $65. You just "earned" in excess of 12000.00 in taxable income on your personal tax return. Now, let think about fuel. If you buy it, it must go into the corporated as donated capital, if the corporation buys it and you use it for personnal usage............income to you. Distributable income, just where did this corporation get it's money to buy all this "stuff" for the shareholder to use.............follow me here......you donate the fuel money, insurance money, property tax money then have to report it as income on your personal tax return just to save some up front sales tax money????? Bite the bullet, pay the sales tax and enjoy "your" airplane. Notice the "tag" at the end of my name. Just break down and start another KR!. Everyone needs to look at Tom's site and click at the link on the bottom to his 1/4 scale radio controlled KR. I saw some pictures and got the flight reports when I picked up the 2S and it looked and sounded like the slickest R/C plane you would ever want to see. The R/C lawnmower was pretty cool also. -Tom Andersen Dallas, TX _______________________________________ Search the KRnet Archives at http://www.maddyhome.com/krsrch/index.jsp to UNsubscribe from KRnet, send a message to KRnet-leave@mylist.net please see other KRnet info at http://www.krnet.org/info.html ------------------------------ _______________________________________________ See KRnet list details at http://www.krnet.org/instructions.html End of KRnet Digest, Vol 346, Issue 234 *************************************** ================================== ABC Amber Outlook Converter v4.20 Trial version ==================================
