I did glass over the face of the false spar just to protect and re-enforce the wood, which I would do anyway. I put them in place and squeezed them with my vice grip. There is such a thing as a rivet squeezer, but they are fairly expensive. The rivets really don't take much load. They are just there to hold the rivet in place while you are putting in the screw. I did all of them this way on the Little Beast, and found that Jerry had done them the same way on this plane. When I build the new ailerons, I will do it the same way again.
