I'm running a 60 inch prop and I'm not seeing any problems. My only concern is that my gear is so wide that it will be within 6 inch of the wheel pant when I get them mounted. I may have to remove the pitot/static to get the pant on and off. (Larry Flesner) >>++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ >>Good info Larry - do you recall the elevator trim under those >>conditions? Steve J >>+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++= I did a quick check yesterday and found that my trim tab is "down" (for nose up trim) at an angle of 21 degrees at 155mph indicated. My tab is a single tab, 4 X 10 inches. My C.G. on that flight was probably about midpoint of the range called for in the plans or maybe at the 33 percent (forward) location. It's just a guess on my part there. Just remember, my KR is 24 inches longer than standard but wing and tail feathers are built to plan. I tried to set my H.S. to zero degrees with the fuselage level and that required a small shim under the forward spar. Maybe a one degree or so lead edge down would work better but there are too many variables to know. I'd have to do a more accurate measuring of my rigging before I'm make any suggestions. At this point I think I'm on the good side of the fence anyway requiring nose up trim. Have I mentioned lately how much fun I'm having flying the KR? :-) My poor Tripacer has only seen the sun about three times since Christmas ! I will be cutting out and finishing my ailerons in the >near future. Ray ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Don't forget, like I did, that when you install the spar in the aileron that the aileron has the same "washout" as the wing, 3 degrees in my case. I placed my aileron on a flat table and installed the spar. Later, when I mounted the wings again, the ailerons didn't match the wing trail edge at both the inboard and outboard locations. I cut the glass at the spar for some distance on one side, clamped the trail edge at both ends and floxed. I then removed the aileron and repaired the cut in the glass. This procedure is only required for those builders that are dreaming about flying the bird while they are building it. :-) Larry Flesner ------------------------------ Message: 4 Date: Sat, 17 Apr 2004 22:05:12 -0400 From: "Harold Woods" Subject: KR> thermostats for heat chamber control. I keep my work shop not below 50 F (10C) with such a thermostat connected to an automotive interior car heater (750 watts). I think that if you wanted a higher temperatre range a bit of "adjustment" could be made, but you would have to calibrate it afterwards using a "meat " thermometer. If you use light bulbs as a heat source you should have a fan in the chamber to make the heat uniform. Just my thoughts on the matter. The cloth will be laid on a 45° pattern. I am figuring I will need 10 yards of cloth per wing. How much cloth have those of you who have laid up wings used?. Thanks in advance for your input.
