You can find an acrobat version spec sheet at http://www.jabiru.net.au/engines/2200A%20Side%20A&B.pdf. Jabiru recommend a TBO of 2000 hours (with a Top Overhaul at 1000 hours). It also has a 200-hour / 12 month warranty and I understand they are very good about honoring it. They also have complete firewall forward kits for many homebuilts. I bet 8GPH on the 100HP engine. 2-strokes drink gas but are super light. It's so light you might even run into CG problems. As far as the Jabiru goes, I have seen and heard the 80Hp verson and it's a smooth running engine just alittle expensive. As for lacating one, just start asking around you home area. Hit the garages, mechanics, auto clubs, junk yards, etc. I have three engines in my hangar for a total of $200. If you're seriously thinking of using a Corvair, you should probably join the CorvAircraft lisd (which I also run), by sending a message to corvaircraft-join@mylist.com . Engines come up there on a regular basis. There's more info on which engines to buy, and links to even more detailed lists, at http://home.hiwaay.net/~langford/corvair/donors.html . Don't just get ANY Corvair engine, which is why you'll need William Wynne's conversion manual (link on the previously mentioned page). How much power you get out of it depends on how fast you spin it. For small diameter prop KRs (54"), you'll easily get 110 hp. I expect my bored out Vair to put out around 135 hp at 3600 rpm. Lots more info on Corvair engines on my website at http://home.hiwaay.net/~langford/corvair ... Maybe you have some wierd browser that's half blind. Bottom line is they are $3 each, and shipping is free, unless you use Paypal (which I wish you wouldn't). If you use Paypal shipping is another dollar, although I should have made it more, since they rob me of 4%, which hurts when somebody orders more than a few. And for all the people who couldn't manage to find the mailing address for where to send your check and SELF ADRESSED STAMPED envelope, it's: Mark Langford 296 Taylor Denton Lane Harvest, AL 35749 Mark Langford, "somebody just shoot me" N56ML "at" hiwaay.net see KR2S project at http://home.hiwaay.net/~langford ------------------------------ Message: 25 Date: Sun, 28 Mar 2004 21:29:08 EST From: FIXERJONES@aol.com Subject: Re: KR> KRnet sticker update To: krnet@mylist.net Message-ID: <74.3a2f331a.2d98e3f4@aol.com> Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII" thanks guys, now i can also own these collectable stickers,,steve jones ------------------------------ Message: 26 Date: Sun, 28 Mar 2004 21:52:45 -0500 From: "Colin & Bev Rainey" Subject: KR> Ailerons/updates To: "KRnet" Message-ID: <009c01c41538$ea143040$99ef0843@RaineyDay> Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Netters, Set the cable lengths today and got the bellcranks lined up. Now they are even, and the stick stops at the same place both sides. The ailerons are different so different length push rods are needed, so I will be fabricating those tomorrow. I need to safety wire the turnbuckles, and cotter pin the final bolt assemblies. The bent rod and welded rods are being replaced with new solid rods tomorrow. Tommy had added an additional spacer to get the ailerons even at their neutral points, when he found the rear cable would not reach after using the turnbuckles at the stick to make the ailerons neutral, instead of centering the bell-cranks, and making different length pushrods to match the individual sides. I am still way short of the plans angle movement at 20 degrees up & 10 degrees down, measured at the trailing edge. I will also re-drill the aileron arm of the bellcrank tomorrow, and re-install, and that should achieve the required amount of deflection per the plans. I will also install the recommended 1/2 aluminum spacer for the better rod to aileron tab geometry. Getting very close! Pictures posted to the site as soon as Dan can (poet & don't know it).
