Hope things are good for you in the land of down under. I once knew of an Aussie when I was connected to the underwater business. His name was Neville Coleman. Seems he's a kind of down under Jacque' Cousteau type. Is he still tempting White Pointers there off the reef? I would like to hear of his whereabouts and you're the first Australian I've ever noticed on the net. If you know of Neville, please give me a shout! For the most part, those funds came from the same few folks who always manage to scrape something up in support of KRnet. I ended up with about $225. I've sent a check for $125 to Rick Maddy in an effort to give him some incentive to "keep up the good work" maintaining our KRnet archive search engine at http://www.maddyhome.com/krsrch/index.jsp . If you haven't tried it, you don't know that you're missing the fastest, most comprehensive resource on KR-related material on the web. Rick emailed me yesterday saying that he was in the process of upgrading his equipment, so the site will be more reliable, and the searches will be even faster in the future. And he's planning a revamp of the user interface in the future. He's a Cozy builder, and his site is at http://www.maddyhome.com/cozy/index.jsp . I'd like to thank him for doing this for no other reason than being asked by Larry Capps if he'd create a search engine like the one he runs for the Cozy list. I'll send the remainder to George Majewski, who provides the diskspace for the actual www.krnet.org website for free, as well as RR's site at www.fly-kr.com . Here's another guy who just volunteered to do it for us, and expects nothing in return, although it costs him every month. I think it's prudent to show them our appreciation every now and then, or at least keep them from having out-of -pocket expenses while supporting aircraft lists that they aren't even members of, so they'll have at least some small reason to keep up the good work! And thanks to Oscar for reminding us that it was time to ante up... Mark L and all netters. I belong to another list which just posted their annual fund raiser to help off set their costs. The Idea is not unique or complex and to be honest I can't say how much if any the plan will raise for them. And just as a side comment, it's disgusting that with a group this size that more voluntary contributions did not come. Any way, the TurboFord site sells TurboFord stickers for $4.00 each and $.50 for shipping. If just half of the members of this list participated by buying a sticker it would provide good income. I'm not sure who has the rights to the KR stickers that I have seen in the past, put perhaps they could help us out. The members who contribute would have something to proudly display. For me the KRnet is reward enough. Before the Net and when the old news letters started to come not so often, I was very disappointed. It would be a tremendous shame to see that happen to the KRnet. Remember that nothing in life is completely free.
