Which airport? We're going to CXO and possibly DWH Saturday to look for a place to keep (hopefully) a Citabria. We're definately leaning towards CXO right now, so if anyone wants to split a hangar we might be able to work something out. -- Steve N205FT mysticz28@swbell.net He who seeks will find, and he who knocks will be let in. ------------------------------ Message: 3 Date: Fri, 18 Mar 2005 04:43:20 -0500 (Eastern Standard Time) From: "Dan Heath" Subject: KR> VW - Diehl Case - 2" extension spools To: "krnet@mylist.net" Message-ID: <423AA2B8.00000A.02996@DANHOMECOMPUTER> Content-Type: Text/Plain; charset="iso-8859-1" I have been looking for the bolts to mount my engine on the 2" extension spools. I need 7 1/4" grip length 3/8 diameter. The bolts at Wicks and AS are about $27 each. I have no idea why they are so expensive as they are just AN bolts. Does anyone know where I can get them for a reasonable price? What alternatives are there, grade 5, grade 8, or maybe there is no alternative. At that price, I will get a new motor mount made. Here in the Detroit area there are lots of suppliers that sell bolts. Of course you cant tell them it's for an aircraft. Just get the best quality grade 8 that they have. Dan, I would strongly recommend contacting Lawson Products for the hardware that you need. I've used their stuff and it's above average in quality. I asked my rep if Lawson handled AN hardware and he said no, however the hardware meets or exceeds the standard. The eddress is http://www.lawsonproducts.com and do a search for hex head cap screws or the part number is A21110 for the 3/8x7 1/2" grade 8. Dan, One more thing that I should mention is that you should order the nuts and washers in grade 8 as well to maintain the complete integrity of the fastener system. Remember that a chain is only as strong as it's weakest link. Make sure to match your hardware. Regards, Bill Jeffries __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Make sure you order Grade 8 or higher and you have now met or exceeded AN specs. As with anything else related to aircraft the price is the only major difference. The first one told me that if I wanted him to actually fill out and sign my builders log, I would have to pay him. Otherwise, he said I could write up a report in my builders log and sign it myself. He did send in the required report to the EAA which is part of his Tech Counselor volunteer duties. When the second Tech Counselor started visiting, I told him that I would like to pay him for his time and he said "nothing doing that a Tech Counselor is a volunteer for the EAA and ethically can not accept payment from a builder". He did say to have the coffee pot going!!!. He also signed my builder log with his report and sent in the forms to the EAA.
