The separate A/Cs contained within are: A/C 20-27E, A/C 20-139, A/C 21-12B, A/C 39-7C, A/C 65-23A, A/C 90-89A, A/C 103-7. Also necessary for review is FAA Order 8130.2D These are all the separate parts that make up AFS-600 which is what they hand out at Flyins free from the FAA for certifying Experimental Aircraft. If you are going to Sun n Fun, you can get one from the temporary FSDO set up in the Lakeland Safety Center (big blue building next to the temporary tower/ATC trailer). If you cannot get one, let me know and I will get you one and send it to you. I am an ASC volunteer with the FAA and we give out all kinds of free handouts and A/C printouts for pilots who ask for them. VFR Arrival Video - Windows Media Player v9.0 check out the video Sun 'n Fun 2005 FAA NOTAM I have also enclosed a link to this year's arrival procedures for aircraft wishing to fly to Lakeland. The candlepower output is close if not the same as the 1156 but have no filament to break due to vibration and they develop less heat. That is the way I'm going as their long life allows that they be semi-permanently mounted behind a clear panel on the wingtip for less drag. Costs more, but gives 180 degrees of light. Replacing normal bulbs with LEDs might seem pointless, but if you replace enough of them you can wind up saving a noticable amount of power and they basically never go out. Supposedly there's even a company working on a headlight replacement using a bunch of Luxor Stars (I think that's the company). I've played with one of those particular LEDs before and it's "holy ****" bright. Burn your retinas bright. Don't look directly at the blast bright. Very impressive. I'll be using nothing but LEDs for panel and interior lighting personally and, if I can find approved parts, replacing all the standard bulbs with them in whatever production plane we wind up with. Might even 337 them. -- Steve N205FT mysticz28@swbell.net He who seeks will find, and he who knocks will be let in. ------------------------------ Message: 8 Date: Mon, 21 Mar 2005 05:59:00 -0500 (Eastern Standard Time) From: "Dan Heath" Subject: Re: KR> placards and markings To: "krnet@mylist.net" Message-ID: <423EA8F4.000005.02056@DANHOMECOMPUTER> Content-Type: Text/Plain; charset="iso-8859-1" I saved this post from Colin, some time ago. I think this might be what you are looking for. All placards required are listed in the Advisory Circular and the regs, A/C AFS 600, which is viewable on EAA and AOPA websites. You can find all the details in A/C 20-27E part 11 Identification and registration markings. AOPA site allows a search for A/Cs and Regs. I almost replied then but bit my tongue. I just laugh when you guys kidd about training wheels on an airplane. Did you hear the last proposal from the FAA about ground loops? There have been so many recorded incidents of damage to planes in the last few years from ground loops that the FAA is trying to pass a bill that all airports must install a slot down the center line of the runway for the tail wheel to track in. This is very similar to the slot car track on kids race car sets. Their concept will keep you tracking straight on take off until you get enough speed for the rudder to take effect. This would make take offs in a taildragger a piece of cake. They are still trying to figure what to do with you guys on landings. That was good!!!! The radical bulbs you were describing are also available thru distributors as the sand buggy race crowd uses them on their whip antennae. As far as the landing lights go I went with those small driving lights with the blue bulbs light and replaced the standard H4 bulbs with 100W ones. Taxi light is a standard smaller pair of the same units only smaller size aimed lower, just in front of the plane so as not to blind other pilots. Doug -- No virus found in this outgoing message. Thirty minutes later, N886MJ returned to the earth and the pilot had one of those big KR/Corvair grins across his face that still has not faded away. So here it is guys and gals............................. YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA A > I am now a true KR pilot. Does that mean I have to sing at this years gathering? Joe Weber flew in from southwest Wisconsin to witness the event. He even got the take off on video (which I have viewed at least 20 times since I have been home). The KR flew better than I ever expected. Take off and climb out were smooth as glass and absolutely no porpoising. I had intended to stay in the pattern and make one circuit and land but the plane felt so good that I made two circuits around the airport then left the pattern and headed north of the airport. My carb is an Ellison EFS2 which is a little too small for the Corvair but still yielded me a cruse at wide open throttle of 144 mph with the Sterba 56 x 64 prop I have. My static rpm is 2650 but I can not tell you my cruise rpm yet as I forgot to look. CHT temp at cruise was dead on 300°, oil temp at cruise was 180°, oil pressure at cruise was 50 psi, exhaust temp was around 1200° (I did not write that down but called it out to Joe down on the ground). Here is the best part....this KR is as stable as you could possibly ask for. Not one time did it pitch, wobble, shutter, or cough, and IT FLEW HANDS OFF. Just thought you guys would like to know...... > > Mark Jones (N886MJ) > Wales, WI USA > E-mail me at flykr2s@wi.rr.com > Visit my KR-2S CorvAIRCRAFT web site at > http://mywebpage.netscape.com/n886mj/homepage.html > > _______________________________________ > Search the KRnet Archives at http://www.maddyhome.com/krsrch/index.jsp > to UNsubscribe from KRnet, send a message to KRnet-leave@mylist.net > please see other KRnet info at http://www.krnet.org/info.html ------------------------------ Message: 21 Date: Mon, 21 Mar 2005 12:51:36 -0700 From: "Jerry Morris" Subject: KR> ballistic parachute? We all have our opinions regarding current events. Some of us have more experience and knowledge regarding past and current military operations and the associated politics. While I may consider mine to be extensive (and it is), this is not the forum for such comments. Rather, I am enjoying my KR-2S building experience and sharing "lessons learned" which you and other KR builders offer. All of you continue and when and if I can make meaningful contributions, I certainly will. Stephen J. Robinson, Lt. Col (Ret.)
