He flew it for almost 200 hour until he decided he was getting just a little to old for the hot rod. It has been reported that he did a 225 mph+++ high speed pass over the Knoxville runway. It was also reported that he has no aft CG problems but forward CG is another matter. Floyd was the tech counsler of the local EAA chapter and a tool and die maker. It's my understanding that polyester based products will not bond to epoxy products. Would it not be better to just thin epoxy with alcohol and use that as a filler? As for calculating the maximum boost at altitude, it's not necessary, because you will loose boost pressure as you go up. In short the maximum boost pressure on the ground is the same maximum pressure at altitude. For example during takeoff I monitor my manifold pressure gauge to ensure that I limit my maximum boost to 35"hg. I have a manual waste gate that I use to keep the manifold pressure at the desired level. As I climb to altitude, I can eventually completely close the waste gate with no fear that I will over boost the engine. I did find this web site that is about WWII turbosupercharged engines. http://rwebs.net/avhistory/opsman/geturbo/geturbo.htm What I gather from reading it is that at sea level you can reach and exceed your maximum recommend boost pressure(requiring the use of a waste gate). As altitude goes up, the turbo or supercharger looses it's ability to produce as much boost pressure as it did on the ground. At some given point the turbo will reach it's limit and no longer provide enough boosted pressure to keep the engine running with enough power to maintain level flight. Once I arrived at the airport, I installed my valve covers, checked the oil level to see where the level is with the top cover off. It is just as Mark L suggested so I put the top cover back on and hooked up the hoses the air breather. Now the time had gotten to 6:30 and I had an EAA meeting to go to at 7:30. I could not resist the urge to fly so I hopped in and took off. After thirty minutes I decided to land and go to the meeting. Well the landing was my best yet in the KR...smooth as a baby's butt. I could not stand it, I wanted to do that again. And I did. That landing was even better. I just had to go one more time. So I flew around for a while and headed in as darkness was approaching. The third landing was better then the previous two. I love this thing called KR flying. Oh yea, after I made a few mods to my engine, both my oil temp and pressure are now normal. Just gotta love it.........and no I never went to the meeting. I could not force myself out of the air till darkness forced me down. KR flying Good to see you have your priorities right. I've missed several hours of work (had to make it up after dark) and even more hours of jobs around the house (still to be done........next year maybe) The weather here is rain, rain and more rain, else high winds (grounded and doing tax return for last year).
