They tell me it is used for cushions but I see it as a good foam for construction as well Anyone have experience with it? After doing a few minutes of ground test runs, I decided to take to the air. The duration of my flight was just over 40 minutes with two full stop landings. My oil temps were 30 degrees lower than before now at 190° Vs the 220° I was seeing prior to the engine repair. Static RPM with my 54x54 Sterba remained at 3100. In flight at WOT I was at 3200. I hope this will improve as the new rings break in. I really thought I would see more RPM in flight than that. The engine did run noticeably smoother. My new (used) Narco Com 11A really talks great. I carried on a conversation with a Mooney which was a good 60 miles away. The control towers can't say I am weak and scratchy any more. Hopefully, I will get some more test flights this weekend and be able to get some really good numbers. It is really great to see these new engine alternatives. They make it possible for experimental builders to have real airplane engines at a good price and up the volume for the manufacturers where hopefully all their prices can come down. It also gives them the opportunity to develop newer and better technologies that will eventually find their way into the certified engines. Just a great deal for everyone. The web site for the XP-360 is www.XP-360.com. We do offer an 100 Hp engine, model TMXO-200 experimental engine that is assembled from new TCM parts. This engine is all new parts and includes items such as the mags, harness, spark plugs, starter & clutch assembly, alternator and carburetor. At the present time we are in the midst of a price change and are assessing our costs and lead times. I regret that I must get back to you when I have this important information. I hope this to be less that one week, but I will contact you regardless as soon as we determine our new costs. Regards, Michael Michael_Yousik@teledyne.com) Engine Sales Mgr. The Sept 04 Kitplanes ran an advert from Mattituck offering similar engines based on all new parts - typically TMX O-200 $15k and TMX IO-240 for $17k. A complete new TMX IO-360 for $19.6k (TMX O-360 = $18k) I heard that Superior Air Parts are offering something even better but I have not been able to find any specific info. After the hurricane season we have Cessna 150s laying on their backs at a dime a dozzen. I can get one, sell the engine, and have the airframe at a pretty good price. I would like to convert one to a poor man's taildragger with a Corvair engine and a few other mods. Only problem is that it can not be passed of as 51% amateur built which puts it in the experimental exhibition category with a huge amount of restrictions on flying it. I have verified this with a DAR and with the EAA. If anyone out there has any experience on any alternative ways to register a plane like this please contact me offline at brian@engalt.com. VUlinski ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ It sounds to me like you are looking at a "flexable" foam if it is used for cushions. The foam used in constructing a KR is a "rigid" foam ,and when 1 or 2 inches thick, will flex very little without breaking. The foam used in the KR will not compress without damage. Could you give additional info on what exactly you are looking at?
