On that page put in the part number in the search box and you will see results, however there is no picture. I've only seen one crank that had the journals built up in an aircraft engine (150 Franklin). It was cracked through #5 journal when I tore the engine down at 30 hours SMOH. No more than a Corvair crank costs, buy another crank. I expect William Wynn would tell you the same. I would rather use a .020 under crank than one that was built back up to standard. -Jeff On Sat, 22 Jan 2005 16:08:35 -0600 "Steve Bray" writes: > Can"t you have a shop weld it up and turn it down again like we do in > auto > engines? > Is this a no-no on aircraft engines? > Steve Bray > Jackson Tennessee > > > The crank is rusted to .09 and it would require cutting to 20/20 to > make it > work. Okay, but are ALL of the journals bad? if it's only a few and they are in the center, the crank might still be usable in the UltraVair 1/3 Corvair conversion. A guy can hope... My project was started in the early 80 (20 years ago) from the fuselage to all spars which were checked by an A& P and signed off in the log book, but the KR-2 wasn't completed, it's always been kept in a building and well protected. Should I build new spars or continue on with what's been built? ------------------------------ Message: 5 Date: Sat, 22 Jan 2005 21:49:56 -0600 From: "Steve Bray" Subject: RE: KR> bad crank To: krnet@mylist.net Message-ID: Content-Type: text/plain; format=flowed Oscar I have a crank with one bad journal. I got it last night and haven't looked close but I think it was #5 or 6. If its unusable for six cyl you're welcome to it. Thats the way I got it, a freind gave to me because he couldn't use it, I'm coming to Houston this weekend. Hope springs eternal . I know that ours is. I'm not concerned about them. See N64KR at http://KR-Builder.org - Then click on the pics There is a time for building and a time for FLYING and the time for building has expired. Daniel R. Heath - Columbia, SC See you in Mt. Coat them with spar varnish to protect them from moister.
