Mine's built like a ladder using something similar to floor construction. I built a 2"x8" box frame and then screwed 2"x4" stringers on 16" centers. The thing is supported by six 4"x4" pressure treated posts, bolted to the frame with 5/16" bolts. The top is 3/4" OSB (oriented strand board) with a quarter inch "hardboard" (Masonite) surface screwed to it. Masonite is the dark brown stuff that peg board is made of. It's very durable and it's replaceable, although I haven't even thought about replacing it for 12 years now. If I get a bunch of epoxy on it, I'll just run the belt sander over it and go on with life. I can still see the layout of my fuselage side structure on it though. My bench is 16' long, but 14' ought to be fine. After I was done with the boat, I cut it in half and put half on one wall and left the other half out in the middle of the floor, but had to add two 4x4 legs to one of them. I only made mine 42" wide, because 48" is too far to lean and reach the other side. One of these days I'm going to hang one of them from the basement floor joists and then I'll call it a "shelf". That'll make room for the "ultimate Karmann Ghia" project. See http://home.hiwaay.net/~langford/ghia2.jpg for a preview... Is it really that difficult to ascertain somebody's email address? Can you not click on "reply" and get a return email that displays the guy's email address in blue, and then cut and paste it into the TO: box and be done with it? Is it that difficult? Am I missing something here? I can see how you AOL guys can't figure it out, because I'm sure AOL hides such useless information as somebody's return address, but if you're using Outlook Express or any other email system that's worth a dime, it should not take more than two seconds to get somebody's email address! Sometimes I have to go as far as hitting "reply to" and then right clicking on name in the "TO:" box and then cutting and pasting the address, but I just don't get why anybody would have to ask for anybody else's email address around here. If your email system won't tell you somebody's email address that just emailed you, you need to find something better. Outlook Express comes free with Windows, so I just don't get it... The 3/4" by 3/4" blocks held pressure on the gussets blocks for the fuselage sides. I removed the pressure blocks and was able to reuse them for the other side. I recently moved from Rhode Island to Western Pennsylvania, Beaver Falls to be precise. I now saw on the worldmap Glenda took a photograph off, that there is a pin right smack in the middle of Pittsburgh. I'd be interested to learn who is in the area, to get some more ideas what to look for before I finally get started on mine. Nice to hear that everybody had a lot of fun at the gathering; now that I moved half way there I hope that I can make it next year.
