It indicates the final figures that close out the Gathering for this year. It should not change at this point by more than $50 either way. Do these birds not have problems with that or are you running fuel injection and I'm not seeing it? I assume that carb ice is not a problem on injected birds since there is no venturi? Scott, Looking at the article written on our web site it does say type 4 not type 1 as mentioned by yourself. (Type 1V shown as roman numerals ) We say in that article that 100 hp and 200 ft lb + of torque is what you need up front. If it were wrong I would change it but it isn`t. The KR was designed for a 60 hp vw direct drive engine. The aircraft now is being fitted with nearly twice capacity engines of various manufacturers and yet the prop diameters are restricted to the original design of undercarriage. Why???? Those that do increase prop diameter end up with a more efficient airplane. It is then a matter of matching performance with diameter and pitch. There is no advantage using our 100 hp gear drive engine in a KR unless you can swing a 60 inch diameter prop. The advantages then would be a much shorter take off run, most likely significantly better climb out and probably a more economical cruise mode due to higher prop efficiency attained by being able to use a more efficient diameter propeller. Gear driving an engine optimises a unique condition allowing the engine to reach maximum power and yet deliver more efficient propeller rpm. It gets better too, NO prop forces acting directly to a crankshaft, no thrust forces acting on the crankshaft in unison to prop and power loading and an engine that is designed to run at an rpm range as accustomed as were in a car. Individual aircraft operation is what the pilot enjoys. Most who own one want optimum cruise against fuel economy and the cruise is set accordingly. Those that want to light up the sky can do that too. An RG TT 2200 EFI running a 60 X 70 inch pitch prop would most likely do that too in a KR2. Could have done more but economics is restricting my flying time. Saturday, Taxied out after a Cessna 170, take off was uneventful, climb up over the mountain range behind Atherton and as I near the top I see the 170 still climbing to clear the range. Should have seen the smile on my face at that point. Got to Chillagoe 40 minutes later and lined up for landing, the approach was average but the landing was ................. YEEEEEHAAAAAAAA material. As I wheeled on I heard the tyres chirp but didn't feel the bump of the touchdown (now an even bigger smile). Had a drink and comfort stop, hoped back in and departed downwind (about 2 knots) back to Atherton. The air was quite turbulent on the return trip so a reduced speed was established for my comfort. Average ground speed of 104 knots for the round trip including both take offs and circuits (calculated from the GPS track). Sunday, Took off and tracked for Wangettie Beach from Atherton. Made my departure call, a little while later another aircraft said he was departing from a private strip that was along my track line but should be clear before I got there, I asked for an exact location. "Koha" he replied, to which I replied "overhead in 1 minute at 2500ft". His reply was "God that thing moves". Big Smile again. Continued on to the beach then tracked north following the beaches but just out over the ocean, nice and smooth. Once I reached my fuel limit I turned and headed home tracking a straight line. Again very turbulent and also very windy, so a reduced cruise speed for comfort again. All this bouncing around made it necessary to land for a comfort stop, so I landed at a little private sealed strip nestled in between the hills. A very turbulent circuit was experienced followed but another squeaker of a landing. Took care of business and headed home to Atherton. As I flew along, passing over a friends coffee plantation, I got a call to come and have a cup of coffee. I had never landed at Nat's strip because it is only 800m with very tall Gum trees on the approach end. I literally weaved between the trees and made a lovely 3 pointer, rolling to a stop 100m before the end of the strip. Had a drink of water and a chat (I don't drink coffee, but Nat is hopeful he'll convert me) and flew back to Atherton. As I was leaving, the hanger after packing up my KR2, I was reflected on the past 2 days flying and thought "I'm finally getting the hang of flying this KR2". 78 hours and can't get enough of it. "The TT 1800 Engine: This engine based on the type 1 VW engine produces an incredible 200ft lb + Torque and with 85 Horsepower driven through our Helical Gear Drive will surely give your Aircraft what it needs up front." The story that you guys post on your website is so misleading, even you can't keep track of it. Read it.....IT SAYS, "...type 1 VW..." > We say in that article that 100 hp and 200 ft lb + > of torque is what you > need up front. > If it were wrong I would change it but it isn`t. Here, let me post it for you one more time...... "This engine based on the type 1 VW engine produces an incredible 200ft lb + Torque....." CUT AND PASTED FROM YOUR WEBSITE PHIL!!!!!!!!! > > The KR was designed for a 60 hp vw direct drive > engine.................... ...snip all the rest................ I really don't need to know the how's or why's of your engine in a KR. The bottom line is this: I politely pointed out that your claims of horsepower and torque did not seem to be correct. You responded to me with a rude email, questioning my ability to understand torque and HP numbers. SO, I posted some numbers that clearly refute your claims. Now, you get somebody else to type a letter trying to tell me I'm mistaken. WHAT IS PRINTED DOESN'T LIE! Your numbers don't add up and your website, as it's written, is misleading. I don't care what you make, I wouldn't buy it because it would be a sale made under false pretenses. ANd I'll be sure to tell anybody else who will listen not to buy your motors, either. Your website lies, Phil. Period. Is that plain enough for you? Can you understand that? Scott __________________________________ Yahoo!
