Some people seem able to have a bad experience with even the best host, but, if all you find in a search are negative comments, then it might be best to look elsewhere. We used a discounter to set up our website a couple of years ago. While we never really had any trouble with the hosting outfit, the registrar was another story. We NEVER received ANY notice about renewing the domain name, and since that is an annual thing, it is easy to forget. A squatter took it over, so we just dropped the whole thing. I just checked and it now comes up as "not found" so maybe we can get it back again. -- 73, David, kb0zke Rev. 2:10c ------------------------------ Message: 3 Date: Tue, 25 Oct 2005 21:25:08 -0500 From: Kevin Farley Subject: Re: KR> Web Site Host To: patrick@gmcmotorhome.com, KRnet Message-ID: Content-Type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII; format=flowed I agree 100% with Patrick on this one... Most cheap hosts that offer that much, are that cheap for a reason. NOT all, mind you and I can't say anything about the one that was mentioned in particular... BUT.... That's for you to make up your mind about. What really concerns me about the host that was mentioned before is that it has no restrictions on content. Meaning that your site will most likely be on shared hosting with porn sites as well as music/software pirates. While I'm not knocking those, it is a MAJOR source of trouble on most hosts. Having said all that, Steve asked about asp and aspx services. I'm sorry to say that I can't offer those as they are limited to Microsoft servers. I did resell on these for a while, but they were discount plans and usually were down without real tech support for sometimes hours, sometimes days. Sorry. Mark, I hadn't mentioned a price yet, just because I was wanting to know what all people were wanting as far as features go. For what I mentioned before, it would be $55 a year. That includes the price of the domain (one year terms), all mentioned items, and no setup fee. Let this e-mail end that thread as like I have said before in previous e-mails, this is a forum for building and flying KR aircraft, not for long threads on off topic issues. I apologize to all that this became a thread on the Net as I did not intend for it to happen that way. Let's get back to KR talk. Thanks guys.
