He's a frequent contributor we respect, and has given a real insight into the problems of licensing an African aircraft in France. I really appreciated his info. Does anyone know of a timber supplier in this part of the world (Victoria) that has suitable timber? Thanks, John Bavington PS. Spruce is almost unheard of here, or WAY too expensive as it's all grown in North America, so most builders use an Australian timber called Hoop Pine. -- http://au.geocities.com/johnbavington ------------------------------ Message: 5 Date: Tue, 15 Nov 2005 17:28:20 -0600 From: "Oscar Zuniga" Subject: KR> KR for sale To: krnet@mylist.net Message-ID: Content-Type: text/plain; format=flowed I just saw John Esch's post about him putting his KR project (and Corvair engine conversion) up for sale. Take a look at what he's offering... it's a great price for what you get. Cris, in Rome- too bad you don't live here, you could buy this project already begun, with many materials included at good discount prices, like John's project. The engine looks like a good one, too. I'll throw in a non-political plug for John here: if I recall correctly, he may have spent some time either jumping out of military aircraft himself, or flying others to locations where they could jump out of them, in service to our country. He will deal honestly and fairly with you. He lives at Independence Airpark in Oregon, home of a thriving experimental community with good tech counselors and homebuilders and I'm sure he gets plenty of people looking over his shoulder as he builds. And just to show that my skin is as thick as anybody's, throw me off the list if you want- I'm 3/4 Mexican and 1/4 Scots-Irish. That means I like tequila most of the time but don't make me mad or I'm liable to get a little upset and offer you a glass of scotch ;o) We've had a few people log onto the KRNet and stay about as long as it takes to read a half-dozen posts, when they get bent out of shape and go somewhere else. It's their loss. I've learned more about aircraft and construction, and met more really great people, here on the KRNet than I can begin to list. It's good, clean, educational, challenging, interesting, fun. And as the French would say, vive le difference! Not much yet. John's still working it. These were just vibrations in three axis, not torsional vibration tests. But one thing he has said is that it appears that the prop is by far the biggest contributor to vibration...which is one more reason I suspect my prop was a lot of the problem. The old engine was perfectly balanced (dynamically), but I never thought it was as smooth as it should be. The current 2700cc engine was simply "thrown together" (although I did cc the chambers to within .1cc of each other or so) and with the new Sensenich prop, it runs much smoother. I'm beginning to think the majority of my problem was the prop not being symmetrical (although it was balanced). Then the forces were magnified somewhat more by the prop extension. Diehl is not much, if any less. You may have a Sonerai gear which is about 50" less the axles. Landings would certainly be easier if you could widen the gear. You may be able to use Grove gear with your existing brackets. Not all, ok not all that many I can answer with experience. Most I delete due to I can't make an educated comment or give advise on. This site is for KR related items. I have never witnessed discrimination or prejudice on this site. 90% of the people on this site that I have talked to, I have no Idea where they live how old they are or what they look like, but I have received my share of great Information from these people. The only thing that I do know for sure is alot of people on this site would love to have flying KR's, some have flying KR's and several could lose a few Lbs, me included to be able to fly passengers. Other than that Lets get to the serious questions and put all of this other crap behind us. Isaac has informed me that his first flights should happen in the spring around March or April. He is at the point, where, I am sure he would like all the support he can get from the KR Net as he leads up to his first flight. From the replies he received so far, I do not think he will be asking us for our help any longer. While, it is true that we are concerned for our KR Family members who are caught up in, hurricanes, tornados, civil unrest, rain storms, hail storms, floods, sickness, etc, etc, etc.......We must also remember that this list is for KR building and flying issues. An occasional off beat subject is ok as long as it is not dwelt upon for days and weeks on end. As we grow older in our lives, are we not supposed to gain wisdom and from that wisdom teach others who have not been there yet? You guys can flame me and slam me all you want but it think it is appalling when someone makes a first post and introduces himself and then decides that maybe he is not welcome here because people post before using their brain and thinking about what they are about to say.
