It would probably be significantly quieter as well. Pete ------------------ I'm not a fan of plastic (carbon props) There is an old saying regarding props 3 is for show and 2 is for go. And as I said earlier, my RG2000 ( around 200ft/lbs of torque needs a large dia prop. Thanks Pete, I will inquire about the 3 blad from Bolly, and VW engines, just to see what they say. Karl ----- Original Message ----- Today is the big day, moving another project to the airport. An Horizon two, quite modified to look more like an 80% scale L-19. Interesting story with this one. My partner on this project is an 85 year old who is legally blind. A veteran of three wars, retired from the military. He was suffering from depression and needed something to do, he had tools and space and I suggested an airplane. The project took three years and three months working ONLY on tuesdays from 7AM to 2PM. Now he's depressed again for fear that our companionship will soon end. Built a two seater (tandem) so that he could enjoy it, but he is so fragile that climbing into the plane exhausts him. STILL, it's pretty exciting for both of us. ------------------------------ Message: 3 Date: Thu, 17 Nov 2005 22:19:41 -0600 From: "Mark Langford" Subject: KR> electrical and fuel update To: "KRnet" , Message-ID: <000901c5ebf7$4c014bd0$0202a8c0@2600xp> Content-Type: text/plain; format=flowed; charset="iso-8859-1"; reply-type=original NetHeads, I've been asked to update my pathetic electrical page with a schematic of the "ultimate fuel/ignition redundancy" scheme, so I did. It's at http://home.hiwaay.net/~langford/electrical/ , along with the fuel system update at http://home.hiwaay.net/~langford/fuel/ . Maybe not the way you'd do it, but it's the way I've done it, so far... It does not have weather but you can call ground service stations all over the country and check on the weather ahead. I have a 296 and love it. $2,500 for a little hand held is just too much money. Some other companies will sell you a large screen mounted in the instermenet panel for that. He says he uses a urodome, like a condom with a tube, ( used in hospitals and home nursing, instead of a urinary catheter) out the bottom of is glider and RV. # 2 well he still has to land. I have a Magellan 315. Thay make a Magellan 315A which has the entire aviation database on it but it cost a lot more. I picked up my Magellan 315 for $75 on eBay. It came with land data (roads, cities, rivers, etc.). Well I erased all of that and completely cleared the database. I the went to this web site ; http://home.stny.rr.com/bkw/315/ and downloaded the current FAA aviation database (which is kept current on this web site) to my PC using Datasend which I bought on eBay for $15. With Datasend and the downloaded database you can upload by the region you choose or the entire database to your Magellan GPS. You can also pick and choose what info you want on the GPS. I have public and private airports loaded on mine as well as VOR stations. Now, if you go on eBay and buy this Sectionals DVD (which I did) http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Official-Current-US-Sectional-Charts-On-DVD_W0QQitemZ4588658022QQcategoryZ26440QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem for $10 you can save the files on your lap top and have all the current sectionals for the US. This program works like "Microsoft Streets and Trips". Once you have done this you can put your lap top in the plane and connect your gps to it and you will have a moving map display which shows sectionals just like the ones you buy. You can plot trips, overlay sectionals, check distances, etc, etc, etc... with this program. I use it when flying cross country and found it to be a totally awesome set up when I flew to the Gathering in Mount Vernon. The great part is you have your GPS doing it's display and also the sectional moving map display on your big lap top screen. And the really best part is that I have a GPS and 12" moving map color display all for $100. Sweeeeeeeeeeet.......it just doesn't have a Hemi.
