The strength qualities are similar to epoxy. Final sanding can be a bit more difficult, which is why I think most KR builders would build this part with Epoxy. There's also room for bottles (in case we empty the keg), but the keg leaves virtually no trash, especially anything with labels on it. It will have to go in a special tent, which I'll gladly bring in my KR. I have no doubt that we can finish at least one keg, and if somebody brings two, I'll do my share to help empty them both! I vote for Amber Bock or Yeung Ling. I brought a keg to Lake Barkley in the front seat of the Scirocco, and it worked out great. Plastic trash can, ice, plastic cups and a Sharpie, and life is good. No mess to clean up afterwards, no bottles to break or recycle. I'll bet one big one and one little one would do us just fine too. I'll buy the little one, but somebody else will have to bring it, as it won't fit in my airplane. We emptied one big one at Red Oak, but considering the "depth" of the afterhours forums at MVN, we could do better this time around. I spent the day in Mobile at Teledyne Continental Motors discussing engines with the chief engineer and engine guru (I'd say more, but then I'd have to kill you). Got a tour of the whole place by the President and Chief. I thought I knew a lot about engines until I tried to carry on an intelligent conversation with these guys! I might be doing some aircraft engine testing down there later this year. Need to get the KR done so I can fly in there (they're based on an active airport). It don't get no better than that! I saw the guts of the GAP as well as the Honda mounted in a 337. Eat your hearts out! Speaking of finishing the KR, I've bent up the aluminum airbox pieces on a brake at work and hope to have a few minutes this weekend to assemble them... I'm probably flying the 175 up there, so I could conceivably bring one ;-) Matt ===== ------------------------------------------------- Matthew Elder Orangeburg, SC http://www.infinigral.com/melder My Airplane Project: http://kr1.infinigral.com ------------------------------ Message: 4 Date: Thu, 3 Feb 2005 22:12:26 -0600 From: "Bubba" Subject: Re: KR> Soda for gathering To: "KRnet" Message-ID: <055401c50a6f$bc7c5680$0200a8c0@Katana> Content-Type: text/plain; format=flowed; charset="iso-8859-1"; reply-type=original robert glidden wrote: > Dana > It's like a guy I used to ride with,he on his Harley and me on my > goldwing. He said atleast you are riding.Atleast your flying in > something.Get there earlier this year so you can join the after hour > forums..Bob In that case I might actually be able to appear, assuming I can get a few little things done like buying something airworthy, finishing my private, etc. ;) Just don't laugh at the guy in the Cessna, Navion, or whatever. -- Steve N205FT mysticz28@swbell.net He who seeks will find, and he who knocks will be let in. ------------------------------ Message: 5 Date: Thu, 3 Feb 2005 22:15:15 -0600 From: "Bubba" Subject: Re: KR> VE resin To: "KRnet" Message-ID: <055f01c50a70$20f9bda0$0200a8c0@Katana> Content-Type: text/plain; format=flowed; charset="iso-8859-1"; reply-type=original jscott.pilot@juno.com wrote: > VE resin should work fine for that. If VE is anything like PE, spray it with PVA after the layup is finished and it'll cure hard and sand way easier. -- Steve N205FT mysticz28@swbell.net He who seeks will find, and he who knocks will be let in. ------------------------------ Message: 6 Date: Thu, 3 Feb 2005 22:20:27 -0600 From: "Bubba" Subject: Re: KR> Soda for gathering To: "KRnet" Message-ID: <056601c50a70$db3892e0$0200a8c0@Katana> Content-Type: text/plain; format=flowed; charset="iso-8859-1"; reply-type=original Matthew Elder wrote: > > Two votes for Amber Bock.. There's some cider sitting on the counter that looks like used motor oil and will strip Imron, but tastes pretty good ;) I swear the stuff has an octane rating. Hmm, there's enough time to make another batch of lemonaid. I'll have to get on that. I am taking the day off tomorrow to install carb heat on my KR. Everything, that is but the heat muff. It got backordered on me. It is going to be 45° here and clear skies tomorrow and Saturday. Too much humidity though to fly without carb heat.
