This guy owned the flight school and shut down the left engine on the Beech Baron we were in trying to be a smart *** since the hydraulics were on that side and the Baron had a nasty habit of wanting to go into a spin. Not usually a problem but this dummy never read the maintenance report prior to take off where it clearly stated that this bird had a bad problem and wouldn't restart left engine. After getting her under control I reached down and threw the maintenance book at him and declared an emergency for straight in downwind landing. Obviously I made it and all's well that ends well. BTW the FAA man witnessing the incident signed me off on the spot. Doug Rupert -- No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG Anti-Virus. The trip from New Richmond to Marion is only about 600 miles or so. I gave you flight time but I did stop in Effingham IL (just near Mount Vernon) for fuel since I was close to my quarter tank mark. The actual trip took about 4:15 minutes but I had to stop so Im guessing at around a 3:30 in flight (had I not stopped) I was doing about 178 or so ground speed. I flew at about 6500 feet or so. Nice uneventful trip. I took some inflight video along the way. How are you coming on your project? Oh - do you have the 32 mm or the 35 mm carb? Ive had the plane to 15,000 feet before and still climbing (a little) but its awfully cold up there. Now that I have cabin heat and if I borrow some O2 I might try for a max altitude. I regularly fly between 6500 and 11000 feet. It provides smooth air and more options in case of problems. I traded my 32MM Aerocarb for an Ellison. The Ellison I have is the EFS-2 and has a 35mm throat. -----Original Message----- From: krnet-bounces+mjones=muellersales.com@mylist.net [mailto:krnet-bounces+mjones=muellersales.com@mylist.net]On Behalf Of IFLYKRS@aol.com Sent: Tuesday, February 15, 2005 3:45 PM To: krnet@mylist.net Subject: Re: KR> Question for Bill Clapp Hi Mark - Sorry this answer took so long....Ive been busy - flying! The EFS2 I believe is suited for powerplants that are 2000 cc or so. The Corvair being 2700-2800 if bored may require a larger carb. You may have a smooth running engine on the EFS2 but might not get all the power you could have if you had the EFS3. I am running a 35mm Aerocarb so I dont know if there is a difference in the funcionality between the two carbs where the 35 mm Aerocarb is suited for the 2800 range. It may just takes some playing with. Bill ------------------------------ Message: 10 Date: Tue, 15 Feb 2005 17:15:50 -0600 From: "Mark Jones" Subject: Re: KR> EFS2? The only reason I have the EFS-2 is that I traded my 32mm Aerocarb even for it. I am getting a static of 2650 rpm turning a 56 x 64 Sterba prop. After I fly this set up, if I am not satisfied, I am going to sell my EFS-2 and get a EFS-3. The throat on the EFS-2 is 35MM so I am hoping that will run out my engine satisfactory for now. Flight testing will determine that. The first flights are getting real close. I have really been practicing my YEEEEHAAAAAAAAA's cause I do not want to be off key when I let one rip.
